You are just about the coolest person I ever seen. I've been building such mini machines since High School (2002), I've always known this is the future. First one was a Micro ATX + Geforce 2/4? in the original XBox (1 not One). I actually cut the top off the standard ATX PSU and removed the fan to make it all fit. I have a design in my mind now that I know you'll appreciate...

Isn't it being mini itx full atx or whatever based on the system being enclosed in that case? Doesn't the radiator being outside of the case specially in a different room, make whatever size case the rest of the system is in irrelevant? I'm not knocking the build though, it is pretty amazing.

This is a super cool and exciting project! I really liked your walkthrough of your work process. My fiancee is terrified that this is my future, since I'm an aerospace engineer who dabbles in machining and works on electronic hardware. I'll have to convince her that it's fine, we live in an apartment and I don't have a big workshop. ... yet. My Poseidon 1080 Ti clocks up past 2000, I have it in a relatively compact loop in my 570X case with 240+360mm radiators. I wish I'd known about Watercool's hardware when I put my system together, because their stuff looks really intriguing!
@tuftman60924 жыл бұрын
This is super cool, I'm currently in the process of building a system in an Ncase M1. It's going to have dual 240mm radiators but I'm putting in quick disconnects so I can disconnect the internal radiators if I want to use a water chiller or have extra external radiators in addition to the internal ones. edit: a word

That external radiator idea is pure genius in execution. I've joked about the potential benefits of having an external cooling system placed outside in forums and Reddit for years, but this is outstanding. I do have two very very small criticisms about the setup though: radiator airflow optimization, and pump placement. Those fans look like they're pushing air through the radiator just to immediately get blocked by the wall mount. Putting the radiator on some standoffs and adding a shallow pyramid shaped slope to the wall mount to help divert the air outwards would fix this. As for the pump, I personally think it should not be placed directly in front of the radiator for airflow reasons, but instead have two of them flanking the sides (for redundancy and symmetry, also for reservoir capacity in case of a leak).
@NotFromConcentrate4 жыл бұрын
Both are great suggestions; good news is that both are already taken care of. The radiator has plenty of room behind to vent and the pump doesn't restrict airflow at all. Keep in mind too this radiator could run passive for this build. It is a BEAST 💪

nice work. very nice, love to see "mad scientists" at work. Thou this does give me a idea of using a old 1977ish Millennium Falcon playset "hull" ... one with nothing in it. and turning it in a mini case that's water cooled. A friend of mine and I were talking about this concept and water cooling it. He thinks you cant keep the radiator inside the hull of the Falcon. and I think you can. and just wall mount it. But this gets my gears turning. Thanks a lot man, keep up the good work.

I've thought about something like this for a while, and you did give inspiration, I also thought about some mini computer with hardware and waterblocks in a small case and the rest of the the water cooling parts in a basement and connect them with quick disconnects, like you did. I also thought about some small water cooling unit that will have power supply rads and pump/reservoir and would have also quick disconnects, so if I wish to take the computer to somewhere else I can have a mobile watercooling unit .any way keep up the great job, I loved your work and your video !
