I love your videos! You're such a positive inspiration and you explain things very calm and clear. If you want to some day, I would love to see a video about using pantone colours. I'm self-studying and practising graphic design for a while and I've read a lot about it, bought two colour guides, but I'm still unsure how to apply this in the actual desiging/printing process. Thanks for the tips!

Hi, I'm wondering about the last point : you say to try not to use modern typos, but I love typographic logos and especially with these new serif, ligature or display font, actually my own designer brand logotype is made as a ligature font, do you think it really is a bad idea ? I'm not saying I'm doing that for every project, but once in a while, when the project asks for it, it may be ok ? In my case, my designer studio name is Yoake (japanese for sunrise), so I went for a font whose A has a circle that starts with its horizontal bar and goes all the way down to under the thypo, because it kinda suggest a sun, without being too in your face and it's modern.
@Kayla-app Жыл бұрын
That is a great question. I think the most important point with logos is that they are: 1. Readable 2. Appropriate for the industry 3. Can take on meaning and grow with the company If you have a business where a more modern typeface feels right, I say go for it. I think it is just important to think long term and if that logo will work for the business in 10 years from now. The reason I brought it up is because I think so much of our taste as designers can be influenced by trends, I also love the modern ligature typefaces! We just need to think strategically and more long term when it comes to logos since they need to last for a long time. I often use more trendy fonts for areas of design that can change more often, like ads, print and social media. I'm sure you can trust your gut and feel out when a trendy font is right 🙌

When my logo has a white mark on top of a black box, how can I make the transparent, so I can have it on a different color background? Putting transparency will just delete the logo, I need to "cut out the shape, but how.
@Kayla-app Жыл бұрын
Hi, I will do my best to help but I might need some more help. It sounds like your logo is saved as a jpg format. In Adobe Illustrator, you can create what is called a "vector" which is a shape that you can scale up and down and it will not have a background. I suggest re-creating the logo (without a background) in Adobe Illustrator and export it as a png file. If you are not familiar with Adobe Illustrator, Canva pro (you can use a trial) let's you remove the background and their AI is quite smart. I hope that helps. If someone else created the original logo for you, you could ask them for an Adobe Illustrator file rather than a jpg or other image format.

oof, i don't like tip no.3 it might make sense if the logo is used in print but for a website it would just double the work and asset management very cool tips otherwise
@Kayla-app Жыл бұрын
Yes you definitely need to consider the scope of the project to make sure you are not doing too much, and it can also depend on the logo how much of a difference it makes. I always try to add some buffer in my logo budgets to make sure I have the time to make edits like these if they benefit the brand but sometimes clients just don't have the budgets and you have to be careful with your time 😊 I'm happy you enjoyed the other tips! 🙌
