I use my Canon M and M50 cameras the exact same way, with two differences only: I have enabled the Highlight Priority mode (found in the very last menu in the camera, quite hidden). This will force ISO to start at 200 and not 100 (which is still native for Canon, so you don't lose anything), but it will give you even more dynamic range in the highlights. And to squeeze even more dynamic range out of this camera, I'd suggest you look at the VisionColor CineTech (set contrast to minimum as well). It's the picture style with the most dynamic range than anything else out there (it blows Cinestyle and C-log away), and it's not flat (so you don't have to color grade if you don't want to). Check my "M50 cinematic tests" video on my channel with it.

Hey boss. If I get the Sigma 56mm lens.....What should I put the aperture to, do I need to change it? The Sigma lens has really good blur in the background so if the lens already does it, what should my aperture, shutter etc settings be at? Also the lens doesn't have image stabilization but I am going to use a gimbal. Should I keep Image Stabilization on and enabled in the lens even when I'm using the gimbal to get extra stabilization? Or is there a downfall to having IS on with a gimbal? I appreciate your videos, thanks!

I would say try to shoot in 1080p 60fps so that if you have a really cool play you can slow it down. Also you could go a little higher on your shutter speed say 320 or 400 so if you want to take a snapshot it will be a little sharper.

It is because your shooting in the photo manual mode. Hey, I have one video about the digital IS. In short, if you have lens IS then I would just use that. If you don’t have lens IS then I would use the enabled mode in the digital IS. If you are trying to hold the camera still on an unmoving subject then you can use enhanced. If you try to use digital IS along with Lens IS then it does weird stuff. I also checked out a B-roll segment in one of your videos and it looked like you where shooting zoomed in a lot. The more zoomed out the easier it will be to get stable footage. The last tip is jut practice. The more you use it and test out different ways of holding the camera he more stable you’ll be able to keep it. Hope this helps!

How about for me? What kinda settings should I use? I just built a new studio with all black curtains around my drumset. Ran some tests the past few days at 30fps, 1/60 shutter, servo af, zone af pointed at the snare drum, 3.5 aperture, 400 iso all the way up to 800 iso and I'm still getting noise on the black curtains 🤔 but then if i lower the Iso, the image gets so dark, and then my lights make my face look blown out. I have lots of lighting. 1 aputure 528w on left and right side of my kit above the kit to the sides, 1 aputure in the middle pointed towards me with the tungsten diffuser, 2 neewer 660 bi color leds at daylight behind me on both corners, and i just got 2 yongnuo 360 2 tube lights for in the 2 front corners of my kit - i think these may be too harsh on their own, not sure. Should i return em and just get 2 more neewer 660's? Do i reposition all the lights? Is the issue in my camera settings? 🤔🤔🤔

Hi! Which settings do you use for night videos? For instance, your room is dark but you had a clear shoot. When I shoot at night or in dark places, I just get blurry videos. How do I reduce grain? Thank you!
@TheCrowleyCrew6 жыл бұрын
I have a video where I go into that. Basically the lower you keep your ISO the less noise you have. I almost never raise my ISO over 1600. Also using picture styles like cinestyle will have more noise in blacks and using the standard profile makes you turn up your ISO to much to get good exposure. I would suggest my modified neutral picture profile and keep your ISO as low as possible.

How do you adjust video sizes? My M50 camera saves video files in 4 minute chunks. I would like to get the full 29 minutes in a single file which I read about. What changes do I need to make?

Are you shooting in 4K or 1080p?

I think it breaks it up into 4 gb files to avoid overheating and causing problems on the card. I use the 1080p FHD for my videos.

i tell you this camera sux for low light compared to the G7X mkii that a friend traded in for it, she used to be able to shoot the moon before and all she does is complaint. She has the kit lens 10-45mm the speedbooster the EF 50mm 1/8 the 85mm 1/8 and the kit lens seems to be the better choice any advised, please help someone i know who

Does she want to do video or photo? Then from there it depends on the style. Does she want close ups or wide long exposures with lots of stars? If you can get back to me about that I can definitely hook you up.

But for photography I would also try and contact Zdenka here on KZbin. She is more of an expert on the photo end.

To do stars, photos I would suggest lowering your shutter speed and for video I would say wider aperture. For the moon you need to keep your ISO down. The M50 really isn’t great for any low light stuff though.

I use a Fotga 49mm Variable ND. It is linked in my description. Just make sure you get the 49mm if you are using the kit lens and if you get a different lens check the filter size and get that size.

What kind of resolution you use to export your videos to your comp? hd 1080? or fd 23.98
@TheCrowleyCrew6 жыл бұрын
I export a 1080p MP4 file which is what my program movie studio 12 has as its internet video preset. Then I modified the preset and I changed the frame rate to 23.96, the bitrate to the highest I can, 26 mbps and set my render quality to best. I am not sure the ins and outs of why those settings work so well but I am very pleased with how little compression KZbin hits it with. Thanks for watching!

Best video sir.!😊🥰 Sir I teach on the white board by moving a little bit. Plz tell me the best settings for me.!!
@TheCrowleyCrew4 жыл бұрын
That would depend on your lighting. In general keep your aperture as low as possible, f3.5 on the kit lens, keep your shutter at double your frame rate 1/50 for 23.96p and ISO as low as possible. Don’t go above ISO 1600 or you’ll get to much noise. I am assuming it is a shot of you standing at the white board, in this case For lighting I would use some directional lights bouncing off the ceiling just above and in front of you to get soft even lighting.

I watched your lens must have video as well and I am happy to hear someone FINALLY speak highly about the kit lens. I also purchases an adapter and the 50mm f/1.8. I am DYING for the 22mm because EVERYONE seems to love it. I am going to be binge watching you videos today. I am VERY NEW to the camera world so I find this extremely helpful
@TheCrowleyCrew6 жыл бұрын
Have fun playing with it! Yeah I love that kit lens. As I said it isn't the best, at least optically, but for me right now it is the ideal lens. For "MOMtography" I think the 50mm Is great it is going to give stunning portraits. The 22mm is my wife's favorite lens for chasing kids around. It is wide enough to keep a child in the frame but it is not distorted like a ultra wide. Then the bokeh from the f/2 is so good.
