I would do an HR Generalist or HR Coordinator role before diving into HRBP. HRBP if ull strategy for all things HR. Recruiter doesn't teach you the basics for an HRBP role.

There are three levels of membership - local, state and national. Each one has their own application. You can use national SRHM website to find the groups in your state and local area, then go to their website and they have a membership application. Complete it, then submit it directly to them. Membership applications should come with directions on how to submit it.
