Love this band. Love each member's prowess and skill. That sound. That SOUND that's so Mastodon. And okay is it just me or does Troy get more beautiful as he ages? Actually to me they all have just grown more handsome grown musically grown as a group. Twenty years of honing. And much more to come. May there be much more to come!

Mastodon - Show Yourself Show yourself Show yourself I want to see everything you're made of Tear it down, rip it out Shed your skin and float it down the river Lose yourself Lose yourself Wild horses ride you through the valley Come alive Come alive Sail into the void without your worries You're not as safe as far as I can tell And I can tell Only you can save yourself Soon this will all be a distant memory Or could this dream be real at all? Stars align Stars align Stars can fall and get you into trouble Be afraid Don't be afraid Speak the ancient wisdom of the desert You're not as safe as far as I can tell And I can tell Only you can save yourself Soon this will all be a distant memory Or could this dream be real at all? Show yourself Show yourself I wanna see everything you're made of Reveal yourself Reveal yourself The truth will send a ripple through your body See your fate You'll see your fate Death will come and steal you from the living Dead and gone Dead and gone I'll see you on the other side of fire

I'm going to rant and diatribe here. Personally, I hate it when the person in charge of choosing the camera shots seemingly ignores a band member. It's a band! Collectively they're all contributing to the overall sound of the song even if an individual member is not the frontman, doesn't have a singing part, or isn't playing a guitar solo. If a person was exposed to Mastodon for the first time and didn't know better, they'd think they're a 3-piece band. Bill Kelliher is all but forgotten except for long camera lens shots from the opposite side of the stage and glimpses in the background. The only solo-framed shot he gets is for all of 2 seconds at 2:51 and even that shot is of his backside and in silhouette against the sky. Contrast this with their appearance on Jimmy Kimmel playing the same song but the video crew gives equally proportionate camera time to each band member. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpWzeo1mn6iEbaM

True. But that's what you get when you're a rhythm guitarist who doesn't even do vocals (not more than a word or two here and there anyway). You do nothing to stand out live, all the cool guitar stuff is handled by the lead guitarist. Therefore you're not interesting, people would rather watch the other guys.

Awesome band. Troy(Bass) has really improved and grown since the beginning. He was always good with the bass but his stage performances weren't always great to be polite. He had trouble keeping tone and looked uncomfortable on stage. Clearly, this is a thing of the past ! All great musicians in Mastodon. You can tell when there are no personnel changes in a band how tight they become after decades.

Tyler Jacobson For the Mastadon purists, I can totally see how this song is a little disappointing. But for me, someone who doesn’t like the band, I really like this song. This song really brought a new fan base to the group which is not a bad thing.
@beowulf14176 жыл бұрын
The song has multiple catchy hooks that still hold that unmistakable Mastodon sound and it's coupled with a great clip. Not to mention they do a damn good job live considering the whole playing/singing aspect. So you're entitled to your wrong opinion but it's just that.
