Started getting to use RS earlier this year mainly for motion graphics and having to put images on objects have been a major part of what I do regularly. This particular tutorial of all I've seen happens to be the most helpful and understandable one hands down. Great tutorial, thanks. 👌👍

Great tutorial! One funny side note, at least for me, is that you used a Jason Jesse skateboard deck sticker (the sun). I used to print those onto thousands of Santa Cruz skateboards a few decades ago.

Pretty cool! but if you move the camera then the yellow sticker is going to change where it's being seen correct? if the rayswitch is being driven by the camera angle

great tutorial but man this is so much effort for something that would take a few easy steps in C4d shader system...LOL A giant network just for some stickers and simple textures...LOL oh well Maxon bought redshift now we are all stuck with this workflow! I have to get over it.. all of that redshift speed is lost when setting up the shaders... meanwhile the standard render is already almost finished rendering... when you just found the right tutorial for layer stacking and got it all working..LOL

Nice tutorial! Just curious why you would duplicate the sticker texture for the color splitter? Can’t you just pipe the out from the same texture node into a color splitter node without needing to duplicate the original texture? What your doing works but can create problems if you need to move or scale the decal. Having two separate textures for each sticker makes it so that you have to make the changes twice if a move or scale is needed. I guess you could pipe a transform into both textures but that’s an unnecessary extra complication on an already convoluted process compared to other renderers like Arnold etc…

I tried that Ray swith method but nothing happened. Do you think I have to use somehow the UW coordinates or UV channel?
@boblolo39773 жыл бұрын
RedShift is very dependent of normal direction, make sure they face outward, Cinema surface generator (Extrude, Loft ...) have a flip normal switch. And don't forget to click: Enable Front/Back :)
@paulroverdesign3 жыл бұрын
Redshift invented the hardest way in the world to do something. So many nodes only for alpha channel. I never remember this, thx for this video. How use the texture which not stretch and save its original proportions? I tried different projections and recreate a UV tags, but still picking up by eye 0_0 It's not fixing even when I change Subdivide UVs to "edge" in subdivision surfaces.

nice tutorial. but its frustrating how stupidly complicated the process is in redshift, when all this can be done in a couple of seconds in standard render.

Cool, thank you! But what if the glas has thickness? Then the sticker appears on the inside of the rear glass becaust of the flat projection..

I have a question. What should I do if I want to make a square box and put the same image on each side?
@scfletch3 жыл бұрын
If the shape is pretty simple I would make a selection of each face and map each face separately using flat projection. Using this method for a simple square box is probably overkill tbh. Alternatively you could use the triplaner.
@boblolo39773 жыл бұрын
have you tried the square projection?
