Nah man, you're forgetting what actors really do. You gotta remember that it's one thing if, when you see a movie, that was the one time they did it and he was able to put in all that enthusiasm and effort and make it that believeable. Now imagine each one of those scenes being reshot and reshot and reshot and reshot all day long. So do I agree that Eminem playing (a fictionalized version of) himself contributed to his good performance? Yes, BUT he was definitely still acting, and he did a competent job at that.

No... it's because Eminem was initially sought after to play the lead role in 'Elysium' but refused unless it was filmed in Detroit. The director was unable to fulfill his request so he looked for a different lead actor and Matt Damon was chosen. Eminem was persistent about the movie being filmed in Detroit because: (1) He's from there (2) Detroit is currently struggling economically and (3) It would bring in some serious revenue/capital for the city. That's why he was brought up.

Acting is extremely easy too btw. All you need to be (in my case) is a person devoid of emotion, yet observing it all day, everyday of my life. I'm seen as a good guy (and I do have good intentions), though I mean none of what I say. Before the ladies get annoyed, I avoid relationships etc. I'm kinda straight but A-sexual to avoid problems for myself. I've acted every second of my life. Where's is my oscar? That's two movies (Elysium, Southpaw) Eminem turned down now-- both of them being tailor made for him. Most of them he wouldn't have to fully act, because they have to do with his own life. The hard part would have been trying to be recognized as an action star, which as a hip hop artist seems kind of corny. Still, I'd love to see him do more movies... But I think that door is closing by passing on this many roles. One more pass and it's pretty much done, he's fully capable imo though.
