@deanronson63312 ай бұрын
I like Matteo, but this solo confirms an old music adage that not all notes should be played that can be played. It's too flowery and showy - something I haven't noticed to this degree in his playing before. You obviously haven't listened to Allan Holdsworth, whom all of the major guitarists, including Mancuso, have considered the GOAT in terms of compositional quality, harmonic structures, technique, elegance, and seriousness of artistic purpose. Besides, art is not a race to the top. Many world-class guitar players have possessed qualities Matteo doesn't (melodic and arranging inventiveness, originality of thought), but most of them can't play as many various styles in an authentic, virtuoso way as he can. Variety is the spice of life while idolatry of certain musicians is for the birds.
@marioaliberti6942 ай бұрын
@@deanronson6331 I agree with you in principle. However, I would like to point out that Mancuso is just starting out. He made a record where he himself confirmed that it was a multifaceted experience desired by adolescent memories, with styles, touches and melodies belonging to different genres and with the scent of his land, Sicily. I think that this guy has had the merit of creating a chasm between electric guitarists, famous and not famous, virtuosos and non-virtuosos, and between those who play three notes and a thousand notes. In short, he has created havoc in the world community of guitarists. And this is already an event, this is something astonishing. The guitarists who in the history of modern music have had this initial impact can be counted on one hand. Finally, as for "his technique overflowing with notes", I would like to see some of you with this gift who, after being suddenly catapulted into the world spotlight, deprive themselves of it, as if they were already a tired, arrogant, affected and experienced adult, and all this to please the usual "Sunday comparators" who only exalt what has become massified in their brains and from which they cannot get out. Absurd comparisons between a boy and guitarists at the end of their careers who live on what they did at the beginning, to then continue with affected, unproductive attitudes and without any novelty or surprise. Matteo Mancuso, for what he has done and demonstrated up to now, that is, only a few years, has done too much. What do you think, will he have room to grow further? I really think so!

@stringendo_yt2 ай бұрын
@vincentl.9469 Gruv Gear is probably the most popular one, but they are quite expensive. But you're right, depending on where it lies on the fretboard (e.g., fret two), all of the strings will be muted unless you play a higher fret. So for music like in this video with loads of fast fingerpicking, it's ideal to stop other strings resonating by accident. Also looks really cool 😎 I love the Yamaha guitar he uses, it's quite unique and refreshing to see a pro guitarist using a more affordable model. Too often I think we see everyone flocking to Fender and Gibson (both fine in their own right), so it's refreshing to see someone so talented with something so different.
