Here we go, day three!!
What a weird day where I really didn’t have any plans but just seemed to walk all over the city.
Started off with a nice sweet treat the apom manis. These were nice and savoury yet not too sweet. Enjoyed with a cup of kopi and before I knew it I had eaten 7 haha.
Just a block away I went for some of the most highly rated stir fried noodles in Penang. The mee goreng sotong noodles were life changing and I can say that they may have shown me the way of the stir fried noodle.
Next up, a Penang locals favorite, rojak. This was one of the most interesting things I have eaten and there is no better way to explain it than, strangely addicting.
Time for Kimberely street! A night time food lovers dream. I came with a few dishes on my mind that I wanted to try, but only went 2 for 3.
The Duck Kway Chap was phenomenal, nothing like what I had in Singapore as I felt like this version was much less sweet. Lasty, the chicken feet and kway teow th’ng, had to be some of the best chicken feet I have eaten since I lived in Hong Kong.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a guy from Arkansas chasing his dreams of traveling the world, meeting amazing people, and trying all the delicious food I can find!
Recently finished working in Hong Kong. I am from a small farm in the states, I am now taking advantage and the opportunities I have to travel the world in search of some of the most delicious foods, unique places, and friendliest people.
A lover of street food, good laughs, and learning about other cultures. I hope to indulge in all these things and more as I bring you along with me on my epic journeys.

I think if we ever return to America and dip stuff into coffee and eat, we'll be kicked out... I like this series because even a lot of us don't know about the claypot Apom. Those in KL are cooked in cast iron. And for the rojak stall, looks like it is a local joint too. Pretty cool you blend in easily, i.e. take the food, stroll casually across the street, order your coffee and eat among the uncles; like you lived there and not just a passing traveler.

Thanks for another great video🙏🏽 When you pronounced Rojak i was like, what does he mean i don’t know that dish, it sounds so French...😂 But then i saw them preparing i was like ohhh rojak/rudjak. We pronounce it like: Rou(as in you)djàk. The sauce is Made on a basis of Petis, that is shrimppaste. It’s one of my fav dishes! My mom used to make rudjak for me when i had the flue, with a lot of chillies to sweat it out. Memories.....

Max, I'm very impressed with your expertise in eating durians. Here in the west durian has been demonised. It's been condemned as the world's most smelliest fruit. Yet they are happy to scoff smelly Stilton, blue cheese and to the horror of horrors, CASU MARZU. It's the maggot infested sardinian cheese eaten while the maggots are crawling. I'll be delighted to devour tons of durians than the ever minging cheeses. Fair play to you max, each time I watch you savouring durians, I salivate.
@Macoi24
@Macoi24 5 жыл бұрын
I like to think of it as their loss. You're right, the rotting cheeses in theory are much more gross than durian. However, I eat them both. Instead of looking down at durian, you should be looking at it like a fine aged cheese. I know people in Asia do, but I am saying people in the west should too.

lol I still can’t believe you would consume Durian. My Caucasian husband hates the smell, so I would eat it in the backyard away from the house. But all 4 of my dogs do love durian too.

haha I love the effort! I think it is funny that your dogs like it too! Hmmmmmm, yeah I have just always enjoyed it! Not sure why, but it also seems like the more I eat it the more I enjoy it. However, I think it is all about finding the correct durian for you.
@ivanchoy262
@ivanchoy262 5 жыл бұрын
Haha I don’t think there is a correct durian when he can’t go past the smell. It’s mostly frozen ones here for about $15. The fresh durian is about 50ish per fruit in Lil Saigon in San Jose.

Ivan Choy wowwwwwwww, that price thoughhh. See I was thinking you could find a less aromatic one! Like the Monthong breed in Thailand has almost no smell to me.
@ivanchoy262
@ivanchoy262 5 жыл бұрын
Sadly they are all mostly Thai durian here. They do have some Malaysian ones every once in awhile but it’s usually $12.99 a lbs and you have to pay through your nose for a whole fruit. While living in Jonesboro AR, I don’t think I had any durian the whole time I was living there.

@@Macoi24 yes it does. I was in a induced coma this time last year for 21 days Drs tried everything to wake me but couldn't. My family realized they were feeding me a soy product through the nasal gastric tube so I was continually having anaphylaxis. I'm ok now after lots of rehabilitation. KZbin helped me while I was in hospital, especially the food videos so thank you so much
