Excellent review! I just did my first ride on the Highroller 3 on wet roots, rocks, and leaves. It’s exactly what I wanted it to be. So far, I prefer it over the Conti Argotal for all out grip and better support from the side knobs. I think the Magic Mary is the most similar tire that I’ve ridden. I think the Magic Mary is a little better at penetrating loose leaves but the Highroller is better on rocks and roots.

Very accurate review. I also got them right as they released and went straight to riding relatively dry and hard pack bike park trails, initially I was a little disappointed with the grip compared to a ASS/DHR combo, but I kept them on for the remainder of the season and they really came into play on the wet mucky and leafy trails. You hit on the head with it being a great shoulder season tire that can be run as regular if you wish to do that. Really looking forward to your other tire reviews!

Got to be the perfect UK winter tyre, just waiting for it to be available in lighter casings. Been complaining for years there was a huge gap in maxxis’ range between the shorty and everything else.

I ran the high roller II as a rear with a wtb vigilante front for a long while and loved it in most every condition, year round, on the colorado front range. Its fairly fast rolling for a knobby tire, but the side knobs still have plenty of bite, even in the snow! A very well balanced tire imo

Im soo happy you said DHF i think after all the assegai hype its proven to be a good tyre but missing that open design bite especially on the side knobs which the DHF and dh2 are well known for. Imo think this is more aggressive minion dhf re release named after the high roller. Side knobs are similar almost identical the centre knobs are now more square and ramped. Overal tyre is more square profile. Personally I could not really get used to the assegai it always felt it was sliding over terrain and have had few washouts and never knew where the edge was and never got that edge bite feeling. Now back on the minon and soo much better witj positive edge bite feedback and could anticipate if it was about to let go. Im very curious with the new high roller and feel like it could do all the positive things a minion does but better

Nice I just picked one up thinking it would perfect for the winter and spring here in the south east

A comparison with the Conti Argotal would be useful, as it's a very popular model for soft conditions.

How's it on wet roots? slabs? vs the ASS, and what did you run in the rear?
@briancahal9 сағат бұрын
I ran dhr in the rear. Decent on wet roots and slabs.

I've been curious how this would hold up on hard pack and loose over hard. I love the Magic Mary for how it punches through leaves and stuff in the fall and winter, but I have folded the side knobs over when trails dry out. This seems like it could be an all good year round tire. I've been running Magic Mary in fall/ winter and Tacky Chan in spring/ summer.

I find that the side knobs on Maxxis tyres start ripping away from the casing riding mainly loose over hard trails.

Awesome review… I’m looking to get the new schwalbe radial tyre either the Magic Mary’s or Albert. Have you had any experience with these?
@trillbill93789 сағат бұрын
Try the Schwalbe Alberts or new Michelin Wild Enduros. Both excellent tires

I’ve ridden the Albert radials in the trail casing and have been super impressed. Review coming soon after I ride the enduro casing

Which tire on the market has the most square profile?
@BrianCahal28 сағат бұрын
@@MikeesTexasnot sure. Continental off the top of my head.

Tread pattern looks like the old conti Baron, which was an amazing allround tire.

Would you say it’s more of front tire? Or does it go well in the back to?
@briancahal6 сағат бұрын
Condition dependent but front for more full time use. Front and rear of you want a more dedicated wet set up.
@StranjBikes9 сағат бұрын
@briancahal have you run this tire directly against a shorty?
@briancahal8 сағат бұрын
No but ive had a lot of experience with the shorty in the past
@StranjBikes7 сағат бұрын
@ it seems to me without having run the new high roller that its a rehash of the shorty which performs well in both loose over hard, super loose moon dust and in the wet. After having run both would you say that is somewhat accurate?

Is that sun peaks your riding in the background footage?
