I’m a Prince fan & loved him the most when he was with her…he was so happy & seemed way more confident in interviews…they had that “soul mate” vibe & enjoyed performing so much together. Their story (I read her book) ends sad but look at all the love & fun they had together. I was so happy when she adopted Gia & that she does animal rescue finding dogs good homes. I wish Mayte many blessings. She seems such a kind & beautiful soul.

I've read her book but I must've missed this. I didn't realise she tried to launch a music career so early on. She is a great dancer, 'ok' singer, with a real push she could've been big. But Prince would've never let that happen. I love Prince but he treated Mayte very badly. I'm glad she got her happy ending.

She is absolutely stunning but this song was “pretty” tragic. And all the secrecy and gaslighting she and prince tried to do to cover up what was really going on between them always put a bad taste in my mouth. He groomed her to be like him and trained her to play games with the publics eye. But that strange behavior may have worked for him but it wasn’t going to really fly in America which is prob why her career didn’t take off. In fact, practically None of his artist careers took off at all bc he wanted to over shadow them and leave his imprint on their talent. They mostly all sounded alike looked alike and acted alike and that was no coincidence. Most likely when they all tired of him and refused to be puppeteered any further, he held their careers hostage and discarded them for dead. That is why we never heard from most of his artist. Only a select hand few. The rest had to leave him completely. Prince was clearly a raging narcissist that preyed on underage girls bc he could mold them into what he wanted them to be. Just like Vanity, her whole look was his conjured look and he did this with every female he attempted to launch. He must’ve been extremely exhausting to know and deal with. His incredible talent just seem to truly shroud the kind of person he truly was. Great artist. Horrible person to know. If he was to do any of the things the industry witnessed him do behind the scenes today, he’d never had made it far. He’d be canceled. The good ole 80s let all the narcissist and sociopaths through the gates. Her story with him, much like Vanity’s, eventually went on to prove this after being boldly discarded for dead by him. Most people don’t even know after discarding Mayte and never speaking to her again though living together in the same home, she decided to finally leave the compound to go it on her own, and he burned and discarded every single thing she left behind including their deceased baby’s ashes. Ugh he was a horrible tragic person to know in person. Poor Mayte. To be preyed on so young (15) by a grown man and eventually discarded for dead when she was no longer useful to him.
