This is a good mod, one important thing to mention is that the hood strut will foul on the plastic trim and rubber seal towards the firewall and if nothing is done the hood will be wedged upward on both corners, which not only looks bad, it also is putting unnecessary strain on the hood strut. I just trimmed the plastic and cut about half inch off the rubber seal. Problem fixed.

I got myself a pair and installed em this week. They're pretty neat! Gets that annoying hood prop out of the way. They had some trouble sitting properly though when I closed the hood. The hood line was messed up, it was lifted close to the windshield. Turned out the dampers were hitting the plastic thing at the top (idk what it's called, engine bay water isolation?) and I had to shave some off w/ a knife. P.S. yes, it was hard to push down the first time, thought I was gonna bend my hood LOOOOL

nice mod, very useful on a car which has the hood up this often 😂 maybe you can clean your airfilterbox plate which is still in place, looks a bit cheap and dirty now... would make the enginebay a much nicer thing to look at if it were nice and black

Hey Madness I just started watching your videos today, and have been great! I have a Rx-8 with quite a few mods on her now. It's nice to see you doing these helping out the newbies! Keep it up man! I do have a question about the bonnet dampers. Once the dampers were on and the bonnet was completely closed did you have the issue where top of the hood (Towards the front windscreen) did not sit flush? Because I just installed a pair (Not the same as yours) on mine and noticed the top is at least 2cm from its original position. Figuring out why that was I noticed that the Dampers sat on the rubber on the plastic cowl which was stopping it from sitting nice and flush. Just wondering if yours do it to? If not I will have to go and get them because I don't want to cut into anything. Cheers :D

Jake Fookes what's up Jake. Im.so sorry I didn't reply earlier, I dont get notifications for all.the comments I get, so some slip out. Anyway, yes, there will be a small gap. In my case it was a 5mm/7mm gap, all in all not that big of a deal. I think it depends from.car to car what size of gap you're gonna have. So, Im very satisfied with my struts, the gap doesnt bother be even.slightly 😇

For perfect fit you need to cut some plastic parts under rubber strip, otherwise body gaps in this area will be enlarged and ugly. Tried to instal these dampers today, but this gap stopped me.

I’d imagine the series 2’s are the same in respect to these bolt locations. Have a check under your bonnet for the front fender bolt and check it’s the same location

Still holding up very well. Only difference I've noticed is that you have to slightly rise it with your hand the last 1-2 cm if you want it to be fully open.

I ordered from a different vender but the same exact hardware and my hood pokes up by the wind shield due to the struts hitting the weather strip along the firewall. The gap along the side of the hood is so wide now I can read the writing on the struts.

ANBPyro oh dear... well, it's more than 2 month since I installed mine, and so.far I got not complaint. Maybe the gap on the rear side of the hood is a bit bigger, but maybe by 5mm, so a normal person won't notice the difference, but an rx8 owner might. I guess the product isn't perfect, but for the money, it does the job :)

I just installed on my 8. It definitely fouls the weather strip and the plastic edge, I am going to chop that portion off the weather strip to get rid of the interference.
