I think I might be alone in this, but I hope they don't download too many mods. The mods are funny and totally fine, but I like how the game actually has an interesting, spooky environment. The mods just make it silly and imo they detract from what I found cool about the game.

I am confused; 90% of the comments here are people complaining about that absence of proximity chat, but I don't see how that would change anything. Proximity chat enables the players to talk to each other. Playing this way, they can... talk to each other. I don't understand how it would be any different.

I'm p sure they mean the proximity chat which limits their abilities to talk to each other. A lot of the suspense and horror and fun of this game is when you cant hear your teammates because theyre too far away or dead, but you have no idea. There's a ton of amazing streams where someone hears a distant scream, or suddenly no one is responding to them and they feel isolated, and the scares work %100 better. Also some of the monsters attack you based off how close you are to them and how much noise you're making, so not using proximity chat means the sound based monsters dont work

Yeah, Lethal Company works primarily because of its blend of horror and slapstick comedy. If you undercut the tension and uncertainty, the comedic release isn't nearly as strong. Playing without proximity chat is like skipping half of the set-up while telling a joke in order to get to the punchline quicker because the punchline is the part people laugh at. Not knowing whether you're the last one alive makes coming back at the end of your shift to find silence except for the sound of bees feel ominous. Then, you round the corner and see a beehive in the center of the ship near a pile of corpses and learn what happened to your dumbass friends. Meanwhile, they get to experience the dramatic irony of knowing what happened and watching from your perspective as you cautiously approach the ship and call out to see if anyone is still alive, slowly piecing together the environmental storytelling before finally sighing and mumbling "goddammit" to yourself and trying to figure out how you're going to get out of the mess they made. Finally, the round ends and they all come back to life wheezing and you laugh at each other's folly as they recount how it all went down from their POV. Bypassing the voice chat also just plain breaks several important game mechanics. You no longer need to waste an inventory slot on a walkie-talkie. There's no reason to buy a signal transmitter or a loud horn. You don't need to put down a two-handed piece of scrap or switch away from your weapon to talk to the person in the ship. You don't need to sacrifice the ability to communicate to avoid being detected by sound-sensitive enemies.

How would that even work as a group all streaming on the same screen. It works in streams for single streamers but the audience needs to be able to hear all three brothers, I guess unless they only showed one at a time but i don’t think that’s as good content

Some of the hardest I've ever laughed at a game has been because of it. You could absolutely keep the mic and cameras on for the viewers! But half of the fun of the game comes from when you *can't* hear your coworkers - is it because they're far away? Or because they're gone ;)

​@@keppakappa5033the only way i can think of for it to not be complete garbage is if they set it up so we are only seeing and hearing the camera from whoever the POV is currently. and i dont want that, i like watching all of them at once. its fun to see what theyre all doing and how they react. also, for them the stream seems to be mostly about hanging out together. the game is just what they do while theyre chatting together. using proximity chat would mean reducing their ability to socialize to focus on the game. personally i like it better this way. i dont care that much about watching gameplay, i like watching them fuck around together.
