McMurtry Speirling BREAKS Goodwood Hillclimb Record!! 39.08!

There's a new Goodwood Hill RECORD. After 23 years Nick Heidfeld's Timed Shootout record in the McLaren MP4/13 has been broken. F1 and IndyCar star Max Chilton's new 39.08 second run in the incredible McMurtry Speirling fan car has knocked over two seconds off that time.
It's also taken the Outright Hill record from the Volkswagen ID.R. Romain Dumas' time of 39.9 seconds was smashed earlier in the day in practice, and a further 0.1 seconds in the Timed Shootout.
The small car-it's only 3.5 meters (137.8 inches) long, 1.7 m (66.9 in) wide, and 1.1 m (43.3 in) tall-is capable of sprinting from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 1.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 150 mph (241 km/h), capped due to hillclimb gearbox selection. What's more, the Spéirling sports 2,000 kilograms (4,409 pounds) of instant downforce, more than what a Formula 1 car is capable of generating at speeds up to 150 mph (241 km/h), but with significantly less drag.
Compared to the demonstrator car that made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last year, the McMurtry Spéirling record-breaking car went through an intensive program of prototyping and testing. A lot of time was dedicated to the unique fan-powered downforce system, which enables it to generate more than double its own weight in downforce. Unlike conventional vehicles, the Spéirling's downforce is available at all speeds as it does not rely on airflow over the car.

I can’t stop watching it. Talk about literally taking the entire world by storm in just 2 runs. The whole world is talking about this beautiful piece of engineering. And the day before it ran 99.999oo9% of the world didn’t know the name of the company or the car. It’s probably the most advanced thing that’s happened in the automotive world in 100 years. I really pray Nurburgring and Pikes Peak are in the works….

The Pikes Peak would be hilarious in the last 1/4 of the race. The road has long bumps and short bumps that make ground effect spoilers unique for this race. Tons of down force will just beat up the chassis and driver.

This isn't a fast car per say, the only difference is the cornering speed, as it literally has a vacuum cleaner sucking it to the ground, so it can make all corners pretty much flat out. There were lots of faster cars there, but they often lack the downforce.

i just mentioned 'tight pan zooming ' tv use it to **purposely** ruin visual acceleration by not leaving enough fixed stationary reference point background in shot while zooming in faster then the acceleration rate of the car . they think we don't notice 😂

there were similar designs in the 1970s, chaperral fan car and the brabham BT46B, both were banned from racing, a big problem was they sucked up all the rubbish from the road and threw it out the back, i noticed a similar problem with this car
