Sarah, I’m single and live alone in NYC. Your video's inspired me to start meal prepping once COVID hit & I began working from home. I prep on Friday evening & Saturday for (most) of the next week. I can’t tell you how much money I’ve saved not eating out, ordering in or buying prepared foods during the last 14 months. And, unlike most folks who aren’t getting around like we used to used to pre-pandemic, I’ve actually lost weight. Thank You for the inspiration!!!

We have just renovated our kitchen. We had two ovens installed. The one we use daily and for roasting is pyrolytic. The other one we use for less messy dishes such as cakes and bread. I wouldn’t have thought we’d need both until our daughter had her new kitchen installed. We had managed for years without an oven. It’s amazing what we managed to cook using just small appliances and a cook top! We certainly didn’t entertain. I must say it’s been nice to be able to entertain again.

Since you’re doing the yogurt in a stainless pot (versus a ceramic crock pot) you can put the pot of yogurt in a sink of cold water and it will come down quicker than just on the counter. I started doing that when I was ill and didn’t have the energy to do anything without a shortcut. So I invented shortcuts in hopes that it would work. Some didn’t. Sink of cold water did.

I love, love, love making my own yogurt! The worst part is the temp watch. If you want that to go a bit faster you can place your insert in a bit of cool water and it will lower the temp faster. I found that it almost cuts my time down by half. Just make sure once it gets to temp you dry it off with a towel before putting back into the pot. Love your channel.

Quick tip for cooling the milk in 10 minutes (I make a gallon and a half at a time). I take my pot and put it in the kitchen sink. Fill the sink with cold water up to the height of the milk in the pot (not to high or the pot will float). Swish the water around every so often to keep the water that gets hot mixed with the colder water and away from the sides. It keeps the cooler water next to the pot. I take mine from 180 (or more) down to 115 in less than 10 minutes. It will be at 150 something before the sinks finishes filling.

I have a 3 quart instant pot I use for eggs and yogurt ( only two of us here) I boil the milk in my instant pot on yogurt boil, then it turns off and I take the inner pot out and put it in a larger pot that has ice and water in it, all the while whacking it , It cool down faster. I have a thermometer that I check the temp with, then I add my yogurt starter from my last batch that I’ve saved. I put it back in my instant pot on normal from 8 hours to 11 hours. Overnight. Then out of pot and into the fridge to cool. Then I put in jars the next day when it’s thicker and cold. I don’t buy yogurt anymore. I love making it this way. I’ve made it in jars in my cooler, in my dehydrator, in a Salton yogurt maker ( years ago, same principle) but this is so much easier for me! ❤️💕🥰
