These bats are very intelligent and curious, once they are comfortable in their environment and with their care team their individual personalities quickly begin to assert themselves. They check out any and every new thing that they discover in their environment. As colony dwellers, they form special friendships, and become possessive of “their” spot to roost, and any interesting toy they gain possession of. Lovely creatures in every way.🖤🇨🇦

The actual reason bats hang is because all bat species have had to sacrifice lower body musculature to save weight to allow them to fly. Birds have the hollow light weight bones that their dinosaur ancestors evolved. Bats just have heavy solid mammalian bones. So they had to lose most of the muscles of their legs and are no longer able to stand. So they hand instead.
