Hoshoryu with 15 straight winning records with 7 of his last 8 having 10 or more wins with 1 tournament at 8 wins due to injury. He needs just a little more strength and he'll be unstoppable. Just look at the skill gap between him and onosato.

I definitely think if he can get stronger he’ll be a force. Just in terms of skill, there’s a reason he’s Ozeki.

Hoshoryu is a weird fellow. On most matches he is a beast totally dominating his opponent. Then he has few matches where he quickly loses.
@Pfeilspalter-LA

He lacks respect for his foes and is over ambitious. (Thats why i dont like him) He is a good fighter, but he hits his first peak. Actually he is too slow in mind for fast fighters.
@benjamin4099
@benjamin4099 3 ай бұрын
@icemanespoo2977 a lot of that is from slips from being over ambitious because he knows he lacks the strength to overpower smaller guys like tobizaru and midorifuji. Hoshoryu is only 315lbs and if he could get up to 335lbs by gaining mostly muscle he will be unstoppable.
@benjamin4099

@@Pfeilspalter-LA his 2 technique prizes, fighting spirit prize, yusho win and runner up proves he isn't "slow in mind." Hoshoryu has the 2nd most wins in the last 6 basho. He also has dominating wins over both Takerufuji and onosato in the last 2 tournaments. Don't confuse the need for more strength and stability for a slow mind.

Your showman talent added to the sumo fan make a super result ! continue like this mate : accurate and entertaining content. The trio Onosato, Hoshoryu and Kotonowaka seems really above the rest (not mentioning Teru, special case) and will continue to dominate this year imho. Unless Takerufuji confirms his amazing yusho.

"...that hope fades with every passing basho." Lol because to me, that hope rises so fast just by seeing Yasu win 3 in a row😂

Terunofuji will hold onto the rope until he gets 10 and there's a replacement. The moment both conditions are fulfilled he's out. It's happening soon, with how promising the ozeki are and how close Isegahama is to retiring.

Looking, sounding, feeling great! Good music, good analogies, and intriguing story (not through) lines make your channel better than a lot of others. If you can keep this up, I'm here for it. Curious that your backdrop hasn't changed...

I love your haircut, its wild! And so is your sumo-show! Thx Jonathan for your outstandig Performance! (I hope that KZbin will give you a price for IT!) I think Kotozakura and Onosato will win the next bashos. All other rikishi struggel with some issues. Nevertheless interesting times...

I think we have yet to glimpse either of their, or Kotozakura's peaks. I personally tag Sakura for next yokozuna, but it would be more surprising than not if any of them failed to attain their rope.

@capitalistraven true. Not to take anything away from Hoshoryu, he's certainly one of the best grapplers in the ring right now. I was just making a point that if Onosato only relies on his size and strength, he could plateau.

Shonannoumi is an interesting guy. He has got the body for sure, but needs to add strength. He also got a late start in sumo, so he’s still learning. Dude is a potential beast, imo.

The YDC met after the basho and said they will not issue any recommendations to Terunofuji until after Aki. So he has a couple of tournaments to sort himself out.

If Hoshoryu can figure out how to beat Oho consistently that would solve half his problem. Oho has his number for whatever reason and that's contributed a loss so many times...

Because of the large number of losing scores in the joi and sanyaku there is a good chance Mitakeumi and Shonannoumi will go up all the way to M2. Unless they decide to give Wakamotoharu a huge underdemotion(not impossible) or keep 6-9 Gonoyama in place(probably won't happen) the banzuke comittee will have no choice but to make Mitakeumi and one of either Shonannoumi or Takanosho the M2. Very good news for Mitakeumi, now he can take a basho off if he needs it and he won't be demoted to juryo.

Abi has 19 wins so he would need minimum of 13 wins for ozeki. Onosato with 23 wins is a interesting situation. Yes he started from M5 so lets see how he does in July. 12+ wins and/or yusho would really cause a statistical possibility.

昔みたいなドラマティックな新旧交代はなくなったな・・・・それでも名古屋は楽しみだ。もし大の里が10勝以上して優勝に絡めば場所後に大関に昇進するだろう。例外ではあるが、過去になかったわけではない
