Next time choreograph how you are going to attack the car. If this was a show piece to be viewed and a spectator piece then you need to plan better. Monster trucks have a bit of a formula when they crush a car. Hell you could have even "planted" a steel ramp next to a trash bin and used that to run over the car at the end. But only after you practice it in real life and make sure the Battle Bot does not fall over. Just my 2 cents. Spend it how you want.

I think for competition, you should not only have the bots battle, but also come up with events they can compete against each other in like throwing cars caber toss style or crushing metal drums. You knpw, some things that build up to the main event without trashing your machine first. Watching a monster truck rally or an exposition of Robosaurus, might prove to be good sources of inspiration.

A massive different between Battlebots and Megabots is the Entry Level. Pretty much every family not under the poverty line of income is able to support building and competing in their tournaments. For MegaBots... you're looking a far more massive undertaking where the entry level is at least in the $500k range. Basically, only people that can buy a super car.

Zebulon Astle i can agree with this. I know it is a hammer seeing everything as a nail, but as an engineer i think improving the control interfaces/algorithms is a big factor in the pulling that off. The motion isn’t... how to put it... compelling? Like, on the uncanny valley curve, just so unrealistic that it isnt even uncanny, just rigid and robot like.

This is the kind of content Megabots needs, focusing on the building of the company and a down to earth style of doing it. You know in the other video I did half suggest reaching out to Battlebots to see if you guys could do promotional work with them like FMB has Yamantaka but going to them for tips on building the league is a good idea, whether or not it will work out because the entry level for mechs is much higher than for a Battlebot (both in cost and the engineering experience) it's definitely a good idea to reach out to people who have done something very similar to what you guys are trying to do. As for the booking you guys took it's a shame to see Eagle Prime looking like this, and by no means am I saying the performance was bad (even if it was a bit clunky) but more the missing armor, at the same time I guess the kneecap and shoulder shields aren't as important without an opponent targeting the hydraulics. In the future for this kind of thing it might be a good idea to write a routine to try to do, awkwardly shaking the car around might not be the kind of thing to help appearances but I realize the situation does make this kind of thing harder to pull off. At the very least I was hoping to see Eagle Prime fully stand up and raise its arms in the air to show dominance over the shreds of the car. Although my other takeaway from the exhibition isn't a tip at all, people always hated the chainsword, I had suspected you guys were playing it safe with Kuratas considering it was a manned mech, glad to see it really showing off what it can do.

Megabot design can easily be helped up with a look at the giant construction machines with fast arms all you have to do is modifiy that with ingenuity, something better fitted for a machine with a torso and two arms.
@AndrewBrownK6 жыл бұрын
Watching a second time, here is a small contribution of an idea to improve the showmanship: It looked like it was barely too heavy to lift entirely off the ground, but if you get the right leverage on the car (maybe grab inside the wheel well) and torque (turn the claw) you might be able to stand up the car on it's end, and that would be a lot more showy for the chainsaw

If you swap the v8 gas engine out for say a 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine (caterpillar, Cummins bt4, etc.) you'll be able to make the machine more compact and have better torque to drive the hydraulics. Cummins are popular compact engines because they run everything from semi refrigerators to dump trucks.

You need to show up in the convention circuit. Like, San Diego ComicCon, Dragon Con, NYCC, and Star Wars Celebration, (which is in Chicago in 2019.) I think, if you paired up with a major tech convention organization, or Sci-fi/Fantasy creativity production, like Lucasfilm, or Disney/Marvel, even by just starting out with completely out of the blue appearances at their major fan events, you'll gain more widespread recognition amongst the consumer base that occupies your particular demographic, as opposed to limiting your company's exposure to the, "Discovery channel," audience. Your videos are already recommended to me whenever I watch the official, "Star Wars," KZbin channel. And any content that falls within the, "engineering," and, "computer graphics," universe. If the KZbin algorithm knows where your creativity belongs, perhaps it's not too much of a stretch to imagine gaining some financial and industry momentum by attaching your brand to the same demographic outside the social media landscape as well. Anyway, I'm glad you're back, even if it is tentatively at first, and I know that the more people learn about what you're doing, the more success you'll inevitably generate for yourself. Because the number of people who grew up imagining a future filled with giant, fighting robots grows larger by the day!
