Fuck, Brann is just ridiculously good. I had the pleasure of meeting him in 2006 at the Wembley Arena when Mastodon opened up for Tool (Mastodon were touring for Blood Mountain and Tool for 10 000 Days). As I was leaving the venue I get a tap on my shoulder and I turn around and it's Brann. He was like: "Hey dude. I saw you singing and jamming along, and I just wanted to make sure that you got the stick I threw out for you?" I did get the stick, and a photo! That night they played 7 songs from Blood Mountain, Blood and Thunder and ended their set with HEARTS ALIVE

Always been an influential drummer to me, especially where he's self-taught. I took a few drum lessons when I starting, but where I kicked with my left foot, my teacher didnt know how to change the setup on his electric drum set for me to learn more on the kit than just on the snare so I basically taught myself the rest. And am still learning new things
@toxicmatrix13375 жыл бұрын
You kick left and play right or kick left and play lefty? Regardless the foot shouldn't even be something to need to work around. I'm playing right foot, but I am left dominant. You should be able to adjust with either foot, considering the hi hat pedal needs to be used with the other foot. Not to mention double bass setup or double bass pedal.
@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power5 жыл бұрын
that's weird the teacher couldn't change the setup, but it's good you're still learning however you can. plenty of good drummers of *all* genres and videos on youtube. keep on rocking.
@GrizzlyBrwn95 жыл бұрын
@@toxicmatrix1337 I play lefty all around. I started out playing right-footed, but played open-handed on the hats and snare. The only things were that I didnt feel that my kicks were real strong with my right foot (which now my right is much faster than my left from playing double bass), and drum fills on the toms felt awkward. So I decided to switch up my setup to play lefty. And everything felt so much better. Ive been playing for 15 years now so I've come along way since then.
@GrizzlyBrwn95 жыл бұрын
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power honestly I just dont think he wanted to mess with the kit cuz he thought he'd break it or something. I dont think it was his actual electric kit, but the music shops. Would've been nice to have used an acoustic kit for lessons, but Im actually extremely content teaching myself and learning by ear. I mean I can read some music, but when I look at kit sheet music, I turn into that math equation meme lol
