@VictorianLace (rewriting original comment that disappeared 🤔) I was gifted a Cepher Bible and this really peaked my interest in Hebrew and the sacred name of God. I then discovered Messianic Judaism and began reading the parshas- weekly readings from the Torah, the Prophets and the New Testament. We began honoring Shabbat on Saturday(the true day of rest). We began to incorporate the Levitical diet and cut out certain foods. We started celebrating the feast days and the festivals in the Bible. We celebrate Passover and Hanukkah and stopped doing Easter and Christmas. The best help was finding Messianic Rabbis and learning the ways of the Hebrew traditions (the way Yeshua lived). Rabbi Eric Tokajer has been fundamental in my learning and I would encourage you to look him up. I feel much closer in my walk with YAH and I am so grateful to have found this form of worship. There is a lot to take in, it takes time to make the changes but they are so fulfilling to feel like you're trying to honor Him the way He commands. Blessings and I hope you'll reach out if you want to talk more!

Then I’m given books written by wof leaders like Ken Hagin and others to set me straight. They were not happy when I gave the books back saying I didn’t read them and left their church. Seek truth. Ready your Bible in prayer. Study. Don’t just read it and go on. Stop and meditate on it. Ask God questions. Look up words and their original uses and meanings. Historical context. The only way we can understand the truth of the Bible is to have been changed by the Holy Spirit. When we in all honesty repent of our sins and ask God for forgiveness our life will be changed. When we are spiritually changed then and only then can we understand what Jesus has done for us. Fools will never learn Gods truth until they are at the end of their ability and trust God.

I too watched this show. Oprah's hubris knows no bounds. To think that she can say that she can't possibly be right is so arrogant. When I turned 70…I knew I had never read the Bible from Genesis to Revelations. I had started it several times but could never get thru Genesis. It always lost me with all the begets and begots. I felt intimidated that I wouldn’t understand the Bible unless it was delivered to me by a Pastor. Many years passed with many failures. So when I turned 70 I was determined to just read it even if I didn’t understand it. Im on my 2nd reading now and I feel so connected to my Heavenly Father. (It took many months I might add.) I have a different connection with The Word than ever before. I have a thirst for knowledge. Not a scholarly knowledge but a personal knowledge. It’s so much bigger than I can explain. I guess the point to my script is, give yourself the time to learn in your own understanding what is meant by God’s words and promises to us. We truly are Children of God and he loves us as a Father would love his child. Warts and all. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I was an original viewer of this episode. I was 35 years old and a Christian for 14 years. So I can relate to Kathy totally. All of this was somewhat "new" to a Christian at this time. There were no books about these topics in relation to apologetics. This is when "new age thought" was coming into vogue and the infant stage of infiltrating the Church. That's why the audience applauded when biblical views are voiced. You have the benefit of time on your side. Most people back then had never heard of terms like "Christ consciousness". I had never heard of it and as a Christian thought I was conscious of Christ. I THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this. This is EXCELLENT. God Bless You for all your effort.

My Near Death Experience came in 1966, I was only 14 years old. Believe me, NO ONE was talking about NDEs, or making money off the books and videos 58 years ago. I died by slamming into a rock retaining wall at high speed on a bicycle, literally flying down a downhill run on a steep canyon road. I impacted at full speed after the brakes failed and was pitched over the handlebars, slamming head-first into the wall. I went up a dark tunnel, riding upward like on an elevating platform and emerged in Heaven. Our Father's house was a crystalline building of enormous dimensions. It was nothing short of awe inspiring and beautiful beyond words. There was a chorus of joyful souls singing in unison, praising our loving God. There were no revelations, there were no prophecies to bring back. There was just the knowledge I have never forgotten; there is a Heaven and God is the Creator and King of all that was and ever will be. Anyone who comes back and claims to have seen and spoken to God raises my eyebrows in doubt. I did not see God, but I felt his love, like a warm, glowing embrace encompassing everything. But I knew He was hidden from my eyes as, even in my form which was neither pure spirit or earthly flesh; I could not gaze directly upon the living, awesome beauty of the LORD and survive. There was a figure standing with me, but I could not make out who he was. He just simply explained, "This is not for you. You have to go back." And I did. It was sudden, and pure agony, being sucked back into my broken body. Trapped in my flesh, I never felt more alone. Perhaps this is why Jesus wept for us and has such empathy for humanity. We are abjectly alone physically, always striving for "true love" and seldom finding it because we can't truly connect with each other until we enter God's heavenly realm after physical death. In my life, I have finally come to understand that the true love we seek is embodied in our love for Jesus Christ, who died horribly and rose again so we could live in eternity with Him. Just remember, all prophecy is finished, and it is contained in total for us to learn in the Holy Bible. The last piece of prophecy is directly from Jesus Christ in the Book of Revelation. The Bible has all we need to know to understand our times, and to know the holy mind of God. A great place to begin is to turn to The Book of Job. I am suspect of anyone who comes back from an NDE and professes to have seen and talked to God and given some new revelation or prophecy from Him.

The 'Name doesn't matter, call God whatever you want' issue is troubling. I thought of the ways we've seen over the past few years that names (or some terms, eg. man and woman) don't matter any longer in culture. Names offer distiction and value, recognition of whom you are speaking. God's name matters, it matters a lot. Blurring it by saying, "you can call God whatever you want!. Call God 'the Sky', or 'Nature' or 'the Force', whatever!" No! Any kind of term that diminishes His sovreignty and power is a sign of disrespect in my mind. A term of endearment, like Father, still shows recognition of His value to us, but the flippant terms used to get a laugh in a sermon, or to 'bring Him to our level' can be gross and ugly. Our Creator and Sustainer deserves better. [if you've stayed this long through my comment, thanks! :) ]
@youtubeKathy2 ай бұрын
I cringe when I see people say things like this, or the God doesn't care what you wear to church. However, the only passage we see Christ angry is at the disrespect shown in the temple. Blurring of the sacred space with the secular. The disregard for the proper decorum God commands from us is very disrespectful.

Through your comment, the Holy Spirit just made me realize something really obviously wrong about my thinking. I would say "a rose by any other name is still a rose" just like rose has different names in other languages so it didn't matter. But your comment made me consider this: a rose in other languages carries the same meaning and definition: red petals, distinct smell, symbol of love and symbolic thorns as potential for pain... etc. But when we decide to call a rose a dandelion, that will of course her of all the majesty of a rose because the other names have DIFFERENT meanings, we can't just swap it, words are not fungible. I have been reverent to God but maybe sort of tolerating others use of how people want to call our God. But your comment just clarified the fault of my logic, I was off track. Thank you!! God bless you for speaking what the Holy Spirit placed on your heart.

Seems like all women are under a curse. The need to be dominated by man. Genesis 3, 16 "... and your craving will be for your husband and he will dominate you." That must be a frustrating curse. Especially since everyone calls the Creator, God, Lord, Father, him, he. We do know that Christ Jesus is male, so he would be God, or Lord, but maybe not so much a human father but a spiritual Father. So who is the one who Jesus prayed and gave sacred service to? Who is the One who created genders? Jehovah? Which by the way means; causes to become. A name that was removed from scripture over six thousand times. Tiresome indeed.

It was a sincere question as I would often be on my knees, in darkness and in the privacy of my room, after a bout of physical and verbal abuse from my biological family. In tears and in my brokenness, I asked God to lead me to the right religion if He really existed. To cut a long story short, He did and I was able to move out and away from the abuse I was subjected to for years.

Additionally, the name "Jehovah" is found in compound place names such as: Genesis 22:14: "And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-Jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen." Exodus 17:15: "And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi: For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation." Judges 6:24: 'And Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovah-shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites." In essence, the name "Jehovah" appears in the KJV primarily in these specific verses within the Old Testament, representing a significant aspect of the biblical understanding of God's name and presence.

I would like to add my two cents. God is the Source of all things. We are a facet of God (Source). When we die, we return to the Source. The reason God is everywhere all at the same time, is because God is living through us.

@ we are part of His creation but we are not Him. He is all holy. We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. The penalty for sin is death and separation from God. We can have the debt of sin paid for through Jesus Christ. We have to trust in the finished work of Jesus on the cross.

Thank you. I've only discovered this channel over the current holiday period, and it resonates with me so much. All of those years I have spent immersed in New Thought, without even knowing the term existed. Now, I'm taking the leap from the C of E, the church in which I was baptised, into confirmation as a Roman Catholic, due on Easter Saturday, 2025 at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. I know you are not a Catholic, Melissa, but your videos are helping me to affirm and fully understand the meaning of Faith, and why not all religions are equal. Incidentally, my wife grew up in China, and she, and her cousin before her, still found their way to Jesus. So, wherever you are in the world, that journey is possible. God bless, and happy New Year. I will continue with my enlighening binge watch, and have just purchased your Happy Lies book, as well as the Seven Proofs by your guest on the excellent Shroud of Turin video. PS, Netflix' Mary the Movie was truly awful.

You know, I am Muslim. And this was my first time visiting your channel. I studied & got part of my degree in philosophy of religion and so love pondering these questions and especially with folks of a different mindset. I do think Islam is the way but I am beginning to read the Bible, old & new testament because it is referenced in the Quran as well as the Torah, as you may know.
@janetspiritofthelivinggod63282 ай бұрын
Welcome to the adventure of coming to know God personally. I came to him fully while reading the book of Romans. With your Islamic background you might also find that book very interesting. God is love and mercy and grace and he is also the great I Am, as Melissa stated. He states the law, watches while we break it and then completely pays the fine! Feel free to ask me any questions you might have. I know some answers but I also love to research for answers too. I've followed Jesus almost 50 years now with no regrets. I love how Melissa says what Jesus offers is so much better than anything else.

Oprah doesn't want to talk about "religion" on this episode?? They have been talking about religion the entire time. God is not religious, The religions were made by man under the influence of Satan. Is it really so hard to believe there is only one way to God?. People enter in by one way into places all the time.

My father had a negative NDE, he saw a place that was full of fire and screams. He described it as somewhere he knew he didn't want to be stuck. When he woke up from his coma and saw us he wept and he was never an emotional person. He dedicated himself to being a better person and showing love towards others after that. It was shocking how drastic of a flip it was.

I love the Old Testament and have read it many times. Every time I read it, I can not escape the fact that it points straight to Jesus. Some may disagree, but when you know, you know. I also agree that God chooses us, but we also have to choose Him back and continue to do so through out our lives.
@950cindy2 ай бұрын
Yes, I love Melissa but He chose her long before she chose Him...Ephesians 1:4-12 and Ezekiel 36:22-37....worth a read for her. Would change her perspective and the Word often does for all of us. If it were up to us, we would be God. We are not Sovreign but He is. If more CHRISTIANS would understand His abilities, the families of the saved would benefit. Faith comes before great miracles, and the faithless thought "It is up to them, negates God's abilities and makes man god," Many should see what happens in the midst of unbelief...Exodus demonstrates how the giants got in the way for the Israelites, while God counted Caleb and Joshua as righteous because they believed God was and is and always will be BIGGER THAN THE GIANTS. Only Holy Spirit draws, We cannot save ourselves EVER. Isaiah 59:21, Isaiah 54:13, Acts in three places promises the household, and Jerremiah 31 talks of taking the children from the enemy. We must know the Word and fight for the faith on our knees and always ready to tell the truth in love. That said, keep your heart clean, forgive always and pray for enemies, take care of the poor, and count God as your best friend. Sit as His feet and remember what one of the accusers stated to Job in Job 22:21-30....saying basically if Job would be close to God, He can save the humble person, and even one not innocent because of the purity of the hands of the one close to God...and this actually happened at the end of the book of Job, when the 3 accusers were made to present animals for sacrifice and God only would listen to prayers for their salvation from JOB.... Let us learn the power of the Word of God. God is in charge ALL THE TIME. He chose us.....many are called and few are chosen... Think...Who choses? We know.

But still I went on to get sucked into the Neal Donald Walsh books that lead me into new age thinking.
