Yes she definitely has shown that she admires or looks up to in awe to people who appear to have strength and confidence. For me, it's not necessarily confidence that I am seeing displayed with this guest. What I see is someone who is convinced or confident in what it is that she's saying. She's confident in the information that she's providing. I wouldn't suggest reading so much into someone's personality based upon one interview.

Evy's ethos of mental armour has helped me to get out of a toxic working relationship and think of what is my intention rather than fall at the insults. I've live up to my aim without her power hungry behaviour throwing me off. Cos I wont be part of that game and do whatever to protect myself (my own president). I've had to be my own protector too. And I love the resilience and learning about it. Also love when Evy said she wanted to get into the force had had to go for what she wanted cos she has to live with thr decision everyone else will eventually come around like parents. And better to not have regrets. That really empowered me to close my heart to a bad job. But I'm hopefully now I will find better x

20:15 Gut instinct, being able to read a room and non-verbal cues/micro expressions in the first 10-20 seconds is a great predictor of overall behavior & mannerisms. I love Evy's advice on: feel the energy in the room, pay attention and don't call a person out just read the cues.
@johannjohann65234 ай бұрын
And when they talk, don't interrupt. Give them plenty of slack like with a fishing pole when you hook a fish. Because for whatever reason, people love talking and telling on themselves thinking it will impress you how they broke the law. Or did something wrong (and didn't get caught). People rarely brag about "doing something right". ("I've been a devoted husband for 5 years". (boring) Instead it's: "I went to this bachelor party in Vegas and whoa boy! Luckily my wife never found out. Shhh.") 99% of all crimes not on video tape are figured out because someone "talked". The truth always comes out. It's whether you happen to be there or not when it happens. People love telling about the things they have done wrong in the world. So let them. And you my good friend, keep them lips buttoned up! lol

Evy is remarkably thoughtful, which I hadn’t expected given the little bit of backstory I’d read before listening to this and this first time I’m encountering her work. Remarkable because there are many larger truths and lessons we can glean from our everyday lives, but it’s so focus intensive and mental vigor to get those from our everyday lives, especially because it’s easy to rest on the initial or heuristic way we manage the normal. Evy is, to me, sort of heroic in the discipline she has in keeping herself open to radical shifts in perception, in noticing what others don’t and what others won’t. Lies are motivated deceptions, and that motivation is secondary to any revelation or detection of deception. Evy can see all of that at once, which is extraordinary but also deeply invested, kind even. Great episode

So much truth, even just about halfway through it. Politicians do that thing where they don't answer the question but speechify for a few minutes about distantly related accomplishments they want accolades for. And I love the advice to just pull out of the relationship without announcing it and without calling out the person. No need for that drama. Just go on and be happy. Great interview. I love your honesty and vulnerability, Mel, especially when you shared that Evy came to talk directly to you. It's not our gut that we need to listen to most of the time, but rather, we need to risk not being liked by the decisions we make. We don't like to go through emotional pain or discomfort, so we ignore our conclusions and hope things improve without risking disapproval. Alternatively, we seek validation of our intel from others to shift the burden onto them, avoiding responsibility. So, what should we do? Trust our conclusions. If we make a mistake, we can always apologize. Risk not being liked in the moment. We won’t die, and the relationship probably won't either. Relationships are built on conflict.
