You need an excavator with Hydraulic shear. The Hydraulic shear will chop and crunch the tanks and pipes, with very little use of a torch, if you have a skilled operator, Next you need a skid steer with a grapple bucket. Also, add a grapple bucket to the same excavator or a second excavator. My guess is a month's rental on all the equipment. You can contract out several large dump trucks so as one is filled the next one is pulling up as they make round trips to the scrap yard. If you get to sell the scrap then that can be worth a lot of money in today's market. Make sure you get an excavator with a long reach for the height.

Now if it isn't handled correctly to a 'T' and you don't notify them or go anywhere near it...... Well you get the picture. Make sure you know the legalities of doing work for a trade--taxes and otherwise. Check the insurance angle. Just saying I have seen subs take a big hit even years after the job. Shit flows downhill and you are at the bottom. Someone gets hurt or killed on site the lawsuits start flying who knows where they land? The size and visibility of this sketchy operation make it a big cliff to fall off of. To many ifs. Going to need to cut access ways, probably water jet, environmental tank crews with vactors, skid steer, mini excavator, roll off cans, 320 with shear and hammer, dump trucks, h2s meters, liquivac truck for line breaks, send samples of the "sludge" to a lab, test for asbestos, then hire remediation specialists because they are certified to dump it at the landfill. Like a 1.5 million dollar job and a bankruptcy. How much does a permit cost, is it per tank, or devide property up into sections to be remediated, then cut down?
@makingmistakeswithgreg2 жыл бұрын
I don’t see how the profit on the scrap would pay for the job. If you had a rail car, a big excavator, and possible crane onsite and 15-20 guys it’s doable. That’s a tremendous amount of dumpsters or truckloads to a scrap company. What they are looking for is a million dollar bill and the scrap. Lots of unknowns and lots of potential flammable/explosive/poisonous stuff. You’re not a idiot, but stay safe 👍. Also, have a lawyer draft a document dealing with the job to try to prevent getting screwed. I wish I had friends like you, I would be down to give it hell. I tried to practice stacking beads in accordance to the teeth also i went above and below. Im using paper towl rolls and discovered they are louder than seashells i had a ripped corner and decided to weld it open and not drip it on the inside. It was fun. And satisfying. Then i tried welding the toilet paper tube from edge to edge , i had to pull it thin so it didnt cave in. If i practiced it im sure i could make a solid weld. The cup stands upside down with coke can on top the a horizontal bag of coffee with another csn of coffee i can lay the pipe down to be a "straight" pipe i have multiple brands of toilet paper tubes so one fits inside the other and there wont be a weld because its a "plunger or inch worm" i have the lids that have a stop sign door that im going to weld together...im doing this to practice witg my measurements and work with duffetent types of "metals" my closet is a garage....

You should be more careful around anything with chemicals. Even if they say it is "clean" or "decontaminated" , it doesn't mean it is completely safe. Respirator and gloves are needed at the very least when at the place. Also, I would not demo the tanks until the sludge is completely removed. Who knows what is exactly in it. They say it is biodiesel and it is not flammable, but diesel is not labeled as flammable. It is considered as combustible by the petrol industry and could still catch on fire. It should be the responsibility of the owner to get rid of the waste therefore you do not have the liability associated with it. Good luck if you are awarded the job, but be leery of all the extra small tasks that are needed. They will eat your lunch if you let them.
@andrewlawrence34083 жыл бұрын

@UCwJk4gNZyJ5h8kTi7mr24Iw Does not matter. Waste is waste. When you scale up anything the overlooked hazards become more apparent. Citric acid (the acid component of Orange Juice) may not hurt you too much but the ammonia in the chiller lines, the additives that were added to the biodiesel, and to some extent the kitty litter is not good for you. If they left that much crap in those tanks, who knows what kind of 'decontamination' process was done. I am not saying be scared of your shadow, but protect yourself above all else and do not believe a word they say. Look at what was done and make your own conclusions about it.
