As for the romantic interpretation, I'm open to it and I hate that people always think it neccessary to make homophobic comments about this interpretation. I wonder... how many of you realize that the scene at 4:10 is actually a confession from Spock that he has feelings for Kirk? Spock looks away as McCoy says the line about letting his human half peek out, showing that Spock acknowledges how his human half affects him. However, when McCoy says he "wouldn't know what to do with a warm, decent feeling", Spock gives him a rather scathing look. He says "Really, doctor?". Going off of how he reacted, you could infer that he's saying "Really, doctor?" 'I don't know anything about genuine feelings?' Tack on that last bit McCoy says - "I know, I'm worried about Jim, too.", and you can infer the last bit of what Spock says: "Really, doctor? I don't know anything about genuine emotions? What about my feelings for Kirk?"

Oh, that episode rocks lmao! It's called Amok Time, and the (slightly spoilery) premise is that Spock has gone into heat and he's gonna die if he can't have sex within like 8 days (all Vulcans go through it, it's called the Pon Farr). Spock, Kirk, and McCoy proceed to dip over to Vulcan so Spock can go get married and have some lifesaving sex, but things get complicated REALLY quickly when his fiancé T'Pring is into another guy, and throws the situation so she won't have to marry Spock (and Spock and Kirk have to fight each other. Vulcan marriage law is fun). The fight (including the dry humping in the ancient sands of Vulcan) ends up being so good it resolves Spock's Pon Farr. I recommend seeing it, it's a pretty wild ride (and it's pretty important both for the Kirk/Spock ship and for future plots about Vulcan characters).

It’s just an observation that when Spock is using their primitive laser to melt the cell door lock, it’s humorous how the laser beam suddenly and spontaneously stops on its own once the lock burns through. It’s not as if Spock had his finger on some trigger of a phaser weapon and could control the firing. The crude beam just stops at the perfect time. 😂 I’m sure that some might argue that Spock had perhaps moved the metal band just enough to cause the crystals not to work anymore, or some may say that the crystals only had the capacity to generate enough energy to produce a beam for just a few moments. That’s fine. I just think it would have been more realistic to show the beam melting the lock off, yet keep the beam firing until Spock moves his arms away from the lightbulb. Just saying. I know...it’s sci-fi and it’s a TV show from the 60’s. It is what it is. 😏
