Firstly, the 501s are masterfully crafted and for me the fit is spot on. I needed a go-to pair of classic denim and 501 is the definition of that. Amazing daily pair of jeans and a living slice of history, totally worth it. And if Levi's want to make a selvedge pair of these? Go on, take my money because I'm buying those in a heartbeat.

They do make selvedge 501s. 501s are great for beater jeans. You can put them through all kinds of abuse and not care because they are like 50$. Honestly, yeah they aren't great compared to many of the high end pairs I have, especially the purpose built ones like my rokker armored moto jeans, but they are probably #1 value for money.

I bought the 501s last July from Warsaw. The ones before I bought year earlier from Hamburg. Their predecessors I got from Chicago. Their ancestors were bought from London and so on. I never wash them. I buy new ones when they start to wear out or deteriorate, always the size 36/36, never try them on, color doesn’t matter. I ride and mend motorcycle in them. I travel in them. I work in them. I’ve been both horrible and tremendous situations in them. They are part of me.

I agree that the 54 is the best looking. I have a pair of 501 93 and they are very loose. I was a size 32 and gone down to 30 so they need a belt. I have a pair of shrink to fit that are worn in and look and fit great. I have a pair of skinny 501 shrink to fits which are nice now they are worn in.

The 501 '54s is well proportioned and cut. It is hard to get a good fit on the rear these says but these are perfect. Sure, they are not selvedge or STF raw denim, but the cloth is substantial and 100% cotton, of course there will be a bit of shrinkage - as there always has been, even with non-shrink/pre-shrunk models. If these were made from top end raw denim then you would have to risk the shrink turning out right. As it is, just buy your size, relax and enjoy.

Wasn't aware that there was this many 501 fits. Levi's just needs to keep the 501 original and that's it!

I really like the 501, however they are just a bit too baggy for my tastes when you first get them. After washing them a few times they do shrink a bit, and I much prefer the current fit they have now. If you get the right color, they offer a good classic look that still meshes well with modern aesthetics. However, when you first get them (especially with a lighter or "plain color") they can look like something your dad would wear, paired with some white Skechers or New Balances lol

The 501s are great when you're in High School and don't work for a living, but with as many year in the market I expected more. I need a comfortable pair that's designed to last for manly activities! I have countless numbers that wear out over the wallet back pocket and in the crotch. Am I the only person this happens to? Don't even get me started with super skinny jeans. Bring back the complete button fly, toughen up on the obvious wear zones, and while I have your attention, a little flattery in the seat to keep up with women in leggings wouldn't hurt either. Go with black labels so people don't read my size from 50' away.

I grew up wearing my correct size skateboarding everywhere I went. A split open crotch was a sign of not being a poser lol .. I went a whole summer with my parents not buying me more jeans. At least my balls was cooler!!
