I seriously considered this vehicle, but the computer was super disappointing. Interactions with the touchscreen feel so slow and laggy. Video playback is jumpy and lags as well when driving. I wish the materials on the wheel weren't plastic. I would really prefer a metal or wood or any other finish. The self driving was also a huge disappointment. The limited speed and highway only driving makes it not very useful. Also, the tablet in the back is a 10 year old tab s4 😢 I just can't buy it, as a smooth computing experience is crucial to me. Everything else is really nice. I love how quiet it is. The interior is otherwise luxurious with a great ride and excellent driving. I'll have to check back in a few years to see if they figure it out.

what did u get instead? Tesla is smooth but I'd rather be on a bus.
@ChessFlixАй бұрын
@aoaaron6166 I'm using a Tesla for now. I care, probably disproportionately, about having a fast computer and good software. I think Rivian and Lucid both make pretty good products with decently high end computers and wouldn't discount them, but the self driving is the main reason I own a Tesla. I have a long commute and it just makes my life easier. I really would like a Mercedes, as the ride and interior build quality is superb, but I just don't like the current state of the EQS computer.
@aoaaron6166Ай бұрын
@@ChessFlix That's crazy. I've sat in Tesla's for years but they don't hold a candle to Mercedes. It's like going from economy to first class. The Tesla OS is awful. To do simple things you need to click through multiple pages and take your eyes totally off the road. Higher-end car brands have plenty of tactile means of handling things. The EQS computer is fairly snappy. I tried it today and it was fast. Map navigation is the only thing I'd say it's not super fast on. Weird as KZbin videos make it seem slow. Don't get. me wrong ... both great cars but the EQS is in a different stratosphere compared to a Tesla lol.

@@ChessFlix For me, I'm buying 2x iPad Pros for the kids at the back to play with rather than the infotainment things Mercedes sell. Just seems a bit simpler. Might buy one for the front passenger too as makes more sense. Every car screen I've used (re entertainment) is crap. Low resolution or too small or glare city. Can't beat a high resolution portable iPad in a nice leather sleeve. iPads ar eco cheap these days that even the baseline ones for £350 will do a significantly better job,.
@ChessFlixАй бұрын
@@aoaaron6166 @aoaaron6166 I get that perspective. Mercedes undeniably has a more luxurious car, no argument here. I personally tried the EQS 580, and it lagged when I navigated through the "Windows Vista" style menus. The self driving wasn't available at all in my area, and it just felt dated immediately. I want so badly to like it, but it is like every other infotainment system in a car. Tesla has well thought out menus, and an extremely responsive interface. I understand wanting buttons for everything, but that's just not me. I've been using touchscreens my whole life for everything. Teslas feel modern like a tablet to me. It comes and gets me at the front door of shopping centers when it's raining, and that's just unmatched for now. The car has self driving that works and superchargers everywhere. Everything about it has been good so far. All that said, the only thing keeping me from choosing a luxury brand like Mercedes is the lack of that tech. The moment it drives to me work I'm switching. But hey, different strokes for different folks. We all have different priorities.

Audi explored the use of fingerprint technology for starting cars as a way to enhance security and convenience. However, they ultimately decided not to implement this feature widely due to concerns about the reliability of fingerprint recognition under various conditions, such as dirt, moisture, and temperature fluctuations. Ensuring consistent and reliable access to vehicles is critical, and these potential issues likely influenced Audi's decision to focus on other technologies that offer more dependable user experiences.

A very comfortable car that can eat miles. Did a trip to budapest in one and it was so comfortable and has amazing range of 330 miles at 80mph. It is savagely overpriced though. Over 110k new! Its probably nearer 80k to be considered fairly priced.

_Maybe you need to take a leaf out of Sir Alexander Graham-Bell when he suggested that to answer the telephone, you should say,_ *_"Ahoy-hoy!"_* It's a stunning EV. You can't deny that. Just a shame it's so huge. And why does this have a hatch back when the EQE has a saloon style boot opening? *_However._* I've always wondered what would happen when an EV meets a ford. And I don't mean a car. I mean a ford on the road where a river runs over it. Are EV's better when fording rivers than engined cars are because there's no air intake to suck those tiny little fish right into the engines cylinders? *_So Mr. Howard. Are you going to test this for me? For us? In this £160k spaceship? Pretty please?_* 8-))...

Out of reach and out of touch. Everything that's going wrong in the EV market in one vehicle. All the simple EVs real people would actually drive are being discontinued in favor of trying to build a better Tesla. Techbro cringe.

Eh no, doesn’t take much to build a better tesla. This car is a tech marvel. If you prefer Tesla just say that. Obviously not a car affordable to many.
@Kattbirb3 ай бұрын
@colinbrydon7659 I don't prefer Tesla, so no worries there. I meant a "better Tesla" in a hypothetical sense, like the idiom of building a better mousetrap. To explain further, I don't see a technological marvel here, I see a boondoggle that's intended to separate easily impressed folks from their money. Or, more likely, get a huge bill every month for the financing. What I believe the average commuter needs is a comfortable, reliable means of transportation that's nothing more than what it needs to be. If we're lucky, we won't even use our cars for more than an hour a day, our smartphones will be more than enough technology for that. A portable IMAX screen sounds good on the sticker, but that's just something to charge more money than is needed. Even for some who aren't the average, what will they be doing with this? Sitting in their driveway instead of relaxing inside? That's what I mean by it being what's wrong with the EV market.
