I’ve been listening to his solo work quite a bit lately, didn’t really care for it much when it was released in the 80. But I really enjoy it now that I’m older ✌️

I saw him at Red Rocks when this came out, the first tour he did with Led Zeppelin songs. One of the best. I'll never forget the Misty Mountain Hop at that show.

Good song. Had the album way back in the day. Our oldest son liked TOO LOUD, from "Shakin and Stirred" he'd bang off the apartment walls dancing ❤

Like any great artist, great skills carry on. His solo work was great exploring new sounds. Those first five albums are gems.

Some of Robert's solo work could easily be Zeppelin i.e tracks like 'Slow Dancer' and 'Calling to You'. But he's always explored different styles as if he'd 'been there & done the stadium rock thing' and was keen to explore new ground. A true original solo artist who has surrounded himself with so many different musicians from all over the world. There'll never be another performer like him. And still a nice humble guy.

You have to separate out your expectations of his voice in Zeppelin from his solo career. He didn’t wish to be always expected to do his “oh, baby baby’s” when he went solo. He reinvented himself. He has a beautiful voice, and it shines in this song. He DID reclaim his rock persona to a degree with his album Manic Nirvana in 1990 and Fate of Nations on 1993, bringing back Zeppelin songs into his live sets…..culminating with his reuniting with Jimmy Page in 1994 to rework Zeppelin songs for their Unledded project. But in the early to mid 80’s, Plant deliberately went about distancing g himself from the Rock God persona of Zeppelin. In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful examples of that period in his career. Big Log is another

Ah , one of my favorites from his mid- solo career. A beautiful piece of songwriting, imo. And, like most of his writing, it has a biographical bent. Great choice!

My absolute favorite Plant solo tune! I love the clave in the background. Hopefully you weren't disappointed when he didn't go off 😅😅😅 Big Log is another great tune of his.

So what you may not know is that Roberts voice through the years changed quite a bit, he lost his range and his ability to do those early Zeppelin screaming wails. Around 1973 is when it became noticeable that his range was diminished, and his voice was quite rough. He had vocal chord surgery around that time as well. So all those years later, after Zep, he still had that wonderful characteristic Robert Plant voice as far as his tone but his solo work you’re not going to hear Whole Lotta love screams that make your hair stand on end! Plus, he matured with his music, he would still rock out occasionally, but he was attempting to move forward and distance himself a bit Zeppelin.
