Rolling Stone magazine recently published their joke of a list of the top 250 guitarists of all time. Gary Moore, along with so many others, was conspicuous by his absence. Few if any, ever reached this level of performance and feel of man and guitar. RIP Gary, you sir were and are a LEGEND. Top reaction from you both and a joy to see you feeling as well as hearing this performance.

I have been a musician (bass) for over 60 years and I've heard many of the greats live - Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Jeff Beck, Ted Nugent, and many more and nobody comes close to Gary Moore. This, IMHO, is the greatest guitar performance ever recorded and he is the greatest guitar player that ever lived. This performance is absolute perfection!!!

They don't come much better than Gary Moore. He's my favorite guitar player. I think the word you were looking for is "soulful". This video is my favorite display of guitar playing I've ever seen. The skill level, the techniques used and the creativity if just off the charts. The guitar was speaking and leaves you wanting more.

In my opinion you have just witnessed the best guitar solo ever played by possibly the best guitarist in the world playing a unique Les Paul guitar called "Greenie." This guitar is now owned by Kirk Hammett of Metallica fame, who describes the guitar having a unique sound and still bears wear patches left by Gary's fingers. Great reaction thanks.

This is the best guitar instrumental performance ever. Even watching it on KZbin, you feel the notes he is playing and normally, only a vocalist can get that reaction. Eddie Van Halen apparently said Gary was the only guitarist who frightened him! I saw him twice and he was unreal. Guitarist can shred and be technical but what Gary did was played with his actual DNA which is so, so unique. So sad that he is gone.

I am loving your reactions! You understand that there’s never a good moment to pause or stop this music, you just have to try to work with it. His music is so beautiful and you can just see how he feels it. Music goes so far beyond lyrics, understanding the words or no words; it’s beyond words. His hands do the singing and emotions that we run through. Y’all are right that there will never be a “best guitarist”. It just touches you in the places that you are in life, and depending on what mood you’re in, what mood it puts you in, it’s just subjective and just trying to appreciating what they’re doing and how it makes you feel is the most important thing. They hear a main line, and then they just feel and express themselves through their hands. It is a very intimate, touching, and openness that they bless us with. I loved your reaction, and you have a new subscriber. Thank you.

The guitar he is playing is a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard, affectionately called 'Greeny' because it was first owned by Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac. Kirk Hammet of Metallica now owns it. Your reaction is so pure and real. This version of the late great Roy Buchanan’s song is exceptionally well done. Gary was one of the few guitarists who could even attempt to cover this creation. Do yourself a favour and listen to Roy’s original. You won’t be disappointed. Here are the words spoken at the beginning of “The Messiah Will Come Again”. Just a smile, just a glance The Prince of Darkness He just walked past There's been a lot of people And they've had a lot to say But this time, I'm gonna tell it my way There was a town, There was a strange little town, they called "The World" It was a lonely, lonely little town 'Til one day a stranger appeared And their hearts rejoiced And the sad little town was happy again But there was some that doubted They disbelieved so they mocked him And that stranger, he went away Now the sad little town that was sad yesterday It's a lot sadder today I walked in a lot of places I never should have been But I know that the Messiah, he will come again

This song was written and first performed by Roy Buchanan and you can find many of his performances of this song on You Tube. While Gary Moore is one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time, so was Roy Buchanan. Though stylistically different both struggled with their place in the guitar community, and it would take a better man than me to say who was the better guitarist. Roy Buchanan died in a gaol (Jail) cell under questionable circumstances in August of 1988. He was 48 at the time of his death. Check him out, you won't be disappointed.
