You two are an absolute joy to listen to. I love how Dominica explodes with insightful commentary and reflection and with NO language barrier when unravelling her thoughts. Andrei is much the same except that his delivery is in part a reaction to Dominica's. Keep it up and I'll keep watching!!

5:56 - Maynard James Keenan (MJK, the singer) writes all the lyrics after Justin, Adam and Danny have made the music. One reason why these are so great. First comes the music and then MJK writes great lyrics to fit to the music. :)
@edrueter9 Жыл бұрын
One interesting note on how Tool composes their music is that the musicians complete the music first and then Maynard writes the lyrics after he listens to it. So it makes sense that the music matches the story that the lyrics tell.

Listen to the cadence of the song along with the lyrics. There are moments, in my mind, i can see history from the beginning of time until now flashing to the beat the speed up the slow downs ...they are so talented to pull something unique from each person with their music...everyone that listens has a different but similar experience to them.

One of my fave Tool songs, you're right how the music echoes the violent course of humanity; that middle part that starts with the tapas and the tribal drumming speaks to me of primitive man and the first warfare of humans steadily escalating with the centuries of advancements in HOW we wage war-- that driving power as that section culminates is like a barrage of tanks and guns and atomic bombs raining down in judgment in contrast to the primitive drums. But has the heart of man ever changed from then to now? And the more melodious, solemn observations of the angels masterfully begins and ends the nessage. Just a masterpiece on Tool's part imo.

what i like is the lyrics and song does not point fingers at any country , but rather just puts a mirror up in front of us all

Tool. The name of the band, but more importantly, the definition of who and what they are as a band. A TOOL for introspection. For awareness. For self realization. For empathy. For truth. A TOOL for healing and ascension. This is why I love this band so much. They are much more than just a band. They are a therapeutic TOOL for mental health and overcoming. All their songs have this deeper meaning. And it's up to you to find their place and incorporate the lesson into your life and struggle, and to rise above it all.

Yes. The expression on Domenika's face @13:29 says it. So true. You can miss 80% of the lyrics but you can still feel the message and journey. Totally love the reactions when she doesn't "get" it either. So genuine, open, and thoughtful. Andrei didn't rock out on this one as much. Don't worry, there's still plenty more. Best Tool reactors in the game here! Parabol/Parabola takes it to a spiritual level. Must listen to both. No pause in between. 🤘🏼

I knew this would hit & resonate with you both! Great reaction. Usually Maynard is a little more cryptic with his lyrics, but this one is pretty clear. We are creatures capable of great & beautiful things, but history has shown again & again that we choose to use our 'gifts' to gain power, land, wealth, leaving paths of death & destruction. We are the only creatures on this planet that do this! Sad how stupid we can be!! This song will always be one of my top Tool tracks!

Not surprised you like Tool. I often see them mentioned along with Pink Floyd. Musically they're very different but they are the same in that they absolutely always take you on a journey; like an out of body experience! Listen to their song Vicarious.

Maynard writes all the Tool lyric. Too me that is a crazy part of Tool is that each member does what he does at a master level and it all comes together in such a unique way.

I think you're ready for a Tool double, check out the songs "Wings for Marie (Part 1)" & "10,000 Days (Wings Part 2)" written in tribute to the singer's mother (Judith Marie) a devout Christian who suffered from a stroke spending approximately 10,000 days paralysed before her death, the song is a beautiful & powerful dedication to her (it might make you cry.....sorry) but It's something u need to experience
@dpaquette69 Жыл бұрын
Watching my mother suffer for years with health issues and passing away a year ago 10,000 days/wings for Marie gets the emotions going every time. The musicianship in that song is simply amazing. That being said it might be to overwhelming of a song for a new Tool fan.🌀
