If I was still making new episodes of "The Happy Show!," Hambert would fit right in. He certainly wouldn't be the first ham to be on the show. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and will have a safe, loving, and prosperous new year, Moosie! Yayy!!!

Thanks, Gigi! The nativity scene was Mom's lifelong obsession. I remember it from my earliest years, and every year it got bigger, more complex, and more detailed.

Your videos are mighty fine! My wife's favorite is your pressure cooker roast beef with cinnamon. Keep up the great work!

Thanks much! I'm glad you enjoy them, and that your wife is making use of them. Some classic recipes just never die, and the pressure cooker pot roast seems to be one of them. I never get tired of it. All the best for 2017!

Hi, Moosie. Finally, here I am watching you make Christmas dinner. The intro of your mom's Christmas Nativity scene is amazing - I'm glad you share it with us! The ham also looked amazing and I'm glad the gloopy stuff still gave it a good flavour. Watching you cut a slice made my saliva glands pop!! Brussels sprouts are one of my favourite vegetables but never seen them sold on that enormous tree branch here. (yes, yes, I knew they grew like that, but green grocers here don't SERVE them like that! If they ever do, I'll buy one.) The little Christmassy duck and the lovely, gorgeous card in the background added a rather refined flavour to your video. I hope you had a nice Christmas and New Year. Glad Rocky did!! He's very adept in opening presents. Did you share some of the ham with him? Did I tell you before? ... that I am reading the book series about Doc Ford's adventures and much of the action takes place in the Sanibel Island area. Makes me think about you. - roc

Been waiting for you to break silence and show up! Mom's nativity was a one of a kind. She did every bit of it herself, down to the clothing and jewelry and tiniest accents, and she'd obsess over it for weeks before Christmas, until every piece of fruit and blade of grass suited her. My sister has it all now, and we both agree that neither of us could ever set it up and reproduce it the way she did. The ham turned out great in spite of me, and I have some fine leftovers in the freezer now, one of the advantages of cooking a 9 pound ham for ONE person. LOL If you can ever find Brussels fresh on the tree, grab them. Farmers' markets are good places to look. Stores don't often have them, because most people have no idea what to do with them. The flavor is just fantastic! The rubber ducky was from my sister, and yes, I thought that gorgeous card from some nameless person added an elegant touch. Rocky would have nothing to do with the ham. He was too doped up on catnip and wanted grilled salmon instead. He didn't get any... LOL I've heard of the series, but never read it. It *is* close to home, and I've been to Sanibel many times. Beautiful island! Happy 2017, Roc! Say HI to Pat! And come back and join us.

Heheh... So do I, and I'm still enjoying this one. Had a ham and cheese omelet for dinner. :-)
@TerrySterling-Thatguy8 жыл бұрын
Anonymoose Did you make it spicy to go with your sweet ham?
@Anonymoose8 жыл бұрын
I didn't go overboard, since the ham has a nice hickory smoked bite on its own. But I dusted the egg mix with a little cayenne, used Swiss cheese, and added some steamed Brussels sprinkled with Old Bay. The combination was nicely robust. :-)

Boy your oven is some clean inside, it looks brand new! The ham looked very cool & tasty too. I never seen sprouts on the root before, bet they are fresh as heck. Meal looked great... GK are driving me loopy. Lol
@Anonymoose8 жыл бұрын
Actually, I was thinking it needs cleaning. I guess the lighting was just right... LOL The ham was, and still is, great. This weekend I'll probably freeze some of it. Sprouts on the stalk are amazing. If you ever see them, grab some. They are so fresh they could be addictive, and I got a good 2 pounds off of that one log. I've been thinking lately that they've gotta be wearing you out!

Your cooking is magnificent, just like Gordon Ramsay. In fact, I suspect that you could easily be the mentor of the great GR himself.

Haha! I wish, but it's more like the other way around. I've learned over the years from Gordon, and Julia Child, and Jacques Pepin, and the Galloping Gourmet, as well as a lot of excellent chefs right here on KZbin. The trick is to never *stop* learning. Thanks so much!

Hambert looks delicious. I read that the log is edible but I see different opinions on how to prepare it. The outer part, apparently, is very thick and woody. How did you like the potatoes? I hope your Christmas was a happy one, my friend.
@Anonymoose8 жыл бұрын
Hambert! Perfect name. I probably should've looked it up, but the outer part IS pretty woody, and I'd guess that like a broccoli stalk, by the time you get that peeled off, what's left may not be worth the effort. Got a good 2 pounds of sprouts off of it, though. The potato recipe is actually one I've done several times, and I love them that way. My Christmas was peaceful and pleasant, and I yakked on the phone with my sister for about an hour. She was having Christmas with her kid and grandkids, and it sounded like a madhouse! I hope yours was also a happy one!

Glad you enjoyed the nativity scene! It was one of Mom's life-long treasures. I really need to dig out the original negatives and scan them. Rocky thanks you. :-) Ackshully, I was stone cold sober when I knocked the jar off, and that's probably why it happened. LOL It tickled me when Rocky methodically dug into the wrapping and pulled the prezzie out. Usually I have to help. It's hard doing that without thumbs, ya know... Hmmm... Hadn't thought of that, but the next Brussels log I get, maybe I'll carve a point on one end of it and keep it as a weapon. LOL The ham is still going strong. I had a ham and Swiss and Brussels sprout omelet for supper. I'll probably freeze a bunch of it this weekend. And a big Happy Neeewwwww Year to you too, m'lady!
