One of the things that made Elvis special is that he was a star to two generations not just one. He was a star to the people that grew up with his music, but when he died in 1977 his music and movies became popular again and he became a start to a brand new generation. I'm in my mid 50s and therefore was not born when the song came out, but after his death Jailhouse Rock became one of the first 45s that I bought. p.s. When I say his music and movies became popular again after his death, it is actually an understatement, I have never seen anything like it since. Part of the reason is that TV and record players were still in their infancies, so radio and TV stations were saturated with his music and movies. For some perspective, we only had 4 or 5 TV channels where we lived, and many of the shows we watched were black and white which was fine since my family did not get a color TV until the early 80s.

Yeah, same here in a far off Country on the other side of the world, South Africa! When Elvis died in 1977 his vintage records hit the shelves again and he was introduced to a younger generation. The radio stations were playing his records and he was on tv programs. This man is truly the superstar singer and entertainer of the world! He will never be forgotten!⚡🎤🎶🌍🇿🇦

I adore your Elvis reactions.. he was so charismatic and with the looks and the voice… who could’ve resisted him?! If you would like another video worth watching, try his funny clips. The guy had an amazing and endearing sense of humour ❤ or go for Hurt (1977), about 8 weeks before he passed 😢 He was ill but his voice… unwavering

My Mom said when she went to the theater to see Jailhouse Rock that when this part came on,a lot of the girls there started dancing in the theater aisles. I can't imagine this happening at a movie today.

Thanks for your great reaction. You get into detail and you are spot on. They use to call his smile "the sneer" . They also said he had bedroom eyes. Girls actually screamed during this movie right in the theater. Saw him in person twice and their was an aura about him. I treasure that I was alive during his career. Be Blessed

I love you two. Elvis is amazing. This is a movie in Elvis' early filmography that is just amazing. Prior to Blue Hawaii, the movies Elvis made were intense and showed the kind of acting chops he had if he were given the chance. Which sadly, as his movie career progressed, he didn't get the opportunity. But I would say his first six films are just amazing and showed what kind of a talent he was.

It is amazing to me how much influence he actually had in his day. I still remember exactly where I was when it was announced that Elvis had passed away. There are very few people that will have that affect on you in your lifetime. Elvis was most definitely one of them. It is a shame that his story is getting bashed so frequently today, by people who generally have no idea who he really was or how people in his era actually looked up to him. Elvis was THE MAN! Great reaction, I have been enjoying your content lately, please keep making these videos, they are well done and appreciated.

I love...love...love this song; it is PHENOMENOL!!! And, he was so young! He has the leg movements jumping, right! He was so very cute, too! He really did bring about a totally NEW style of dance and he had such a new, different sound! He was FANTASTIC! He was ELVIS and there will NEVER be another that even comes close to his class, originality, and just plain SPECTACULAR talent! In my opinion, he was, still is, and always will be the most talented entertainer that has ever lived! By the way, there is a video of this that is a little better quality! You have very quickly become my favorite reactors! I love your reactions and look for you when scrolling ( which is 10 times a day ). lol Thank you for this! I actually had requested it months ago! Jailhouse Rock is a good movie. Judy Tyler, his female co star, was killed driving home after the filming, and supposedly it upset Elvis so much, that he never watched the movie. In the movie,he actually serves a jail sentence. This scene is after he is released and has become a popular singer.

This WAS NOT the first video of all time. THAT was of Ricky Nelson created by his father on the OZZIE & HARRIET (NELSON) SHOW., It was Ricky's first number 1, Poor Little Fool. It was created, produced & directed specifically for television in 1959. This clip of Elvis's movie released & viewed in the theaters on 2957; however, it was not was not shown on television until the early 1960s when the film was shown in its entirety. In the 70s this clip plus several other clips from other films were also shown as 'solos' Jailhouse Rock caught, but it was the version where Elvis was preforming in front of a jail cell set with back up dancers. BUT, Ricky Nelson was the first specific to television music video.
