Just managed to get the Big Boss rank myself (just over 41 mins!) all thanks to this walkthrough. Clear, concise commentary goes such a long way, and all the little bits of humour sprinkled through the video is greatly appreciated! No big deal...

Fantastic completion time, well played! And thank you, really appreciate hearing that this walkthrough helped you get that Big Boss rank. Even with guidance, it's a tricky thing to obtain. GG! 🔥 🙏

There is barely any content around MG 1 and 2...Your videos are excellent. Good narration, good guide, good gameplay, short sweet and to the point. (Like one of my japanese animes). Hope your channel blows up so your hard work gets appreciated more. More metal gear content pls👊

@Big.Joe.Grizzly Thank you so much, man. Really appreciate that. MGS (BB Rank, no damage) is being worked on, and I've made significant progress. I'd loved to have released it by now, but I've been delayed by a load of things going on this year, but soon, soon I will finally publish it. 🔥 (I'm just not going to rush it as its my all time favourite and I'd like to do it justice.)
Amazing run, loved the narration, big boss rank indeed

Wow, and I thought completing MG 1 in stealth was impossible after my first playthrough and rather obvious Deer rank 😮 Bravo, great run and great comments on how does everything work mechanics wise (and lore wise) 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Good play through bro, I appreciate how you go in depth, this game is underrated along with the second, I’m remaking this game into an anime like episodic series on my channel, I imagine it will be remade at some point in the future hopefully! It has potential to be great! Big boss and solid snake in the same game was always awesome to me.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I wanted to honour this game on the level of its brilliance for its time, despite visual and tech limitations that date the medium. So much of what is special to Metal Gear Solid is contained within these first two MSX releases, that even in its infancy, the major conflict at the heart of MGS's story is here. And agreed, Snake vs Big Boss is so cool. Your animated series looks awesome. I'll follow your work. Good luck and all the best, man. 🔥

There's not that many Big Boss runs of MG out there - and all I could find up until now were runs skipped Madnar & Ellen entirely. Yeah, when you break down the game's design, the entire act of finding Madnar, then Ellen and returning to Madnar only exists for the player to learn how to defeat Metal Gear - but if you know, you can skip him entirely which is a bit silly from a story perspective going into Metal Gear 2. But this confirms it's absolutely possible to do a "Save Madnar, Big Boss Run".
@SoulSignal6 ай бұрын
@ZakRas 100%, man - I even kept CODEC conversations in, which added around 5 or so minutes to the final time. When I researched Big Boss rank, I remember seeing a comment on a forum saying it wasn't possible to save Madnar on Big Boss rank, but I wanted to try for story reasons and it turned out very comfortable. I do think it's awesome we have the option to skip that sequence, though.

It's brilliant and intense, especially on the first playthrough. It's available now, but it's also releasing again with the upcoming Master Collection. That will include the NES version, Snake's Revenge, and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. A fantastic opportunity time to play them all.

This is PS3. The original MSX2, bosses don't make a whining sound or change color when hit.
@SoulSignal7 ай бұрын
I ran this on the PC release (2020) just before MGS Master Collection's release. It's similar to the version I first played that came with MGS3: Subsistence (PS2, 2006), but I actually think the screen changes here are a slight bit slower. Each version has some minor differences. I labelled it [MSX] as it's the most direct way to reference the first Metal Gear in the series. I think the most impactful difference for this particular run is that on the original MSX2 version, you could actually shut down the final electric floor with a remote missile (the switch is hidden next to the door to Metal Gear). Later versions removed this - no rations, no saves would be much more comfy if this was still possible.

All your videos are great thus far, love these thorough breakdowns of the entire process. The amount of commentary is just right too, very unobtrusive and gives some space for the game's ambience and mood to sink in. Very easy sub for me.
@SoulSignal Жыл бұрын
Thank you for this great feedback. I'm encouraged by your words about the balance between commentary and allowing the game to breathe. I set out to achieve this by design, but as it's the first time I've recorded analysis like this, I expected to fine tune it in later video releases. It's motivating to hear the foundation is solid - moving forward. More to come soon. Thank you again. 🙏

What is the opening from?
@SoulSignal3 ай бұрын
The opening cinematic is a scene from MGSV. The music I use in the Intro is "Past, Present, Future" by Norihiko Hibino.
@jimmymunz8743 ай бұрын
@@SoulSignal does the tape in the game reference that mission or did you add that?
@SoulSignal3 ай бұрын
@@jimmymunz874 The tape is directly referencing the mission, hence the blue screen and the MSX start up sound. The Diamond Dogs logo behind Snake also turns into an Outer Heaven logo once the mirror is broken. The only thing I added was the text "Sometime earlier..." since my plan is to cover the entire Metal Gear series, I wanted to create a seamless juxtaposition to contextualise of the end and beginning.
