The first song on his own was “Change on the Rise”. It makes me think of a 60’s Civil Rights time. This next song “Otherside” makes me think of the relaxation or maybe satisfaction after the fight has been won. The next song should be “The Summit” which is the anticipation of something new on the horizon to look forward to. These songs seem to have this natural progression. After that, it’s a free for all. He has some really good music and it all seems really personal to him but he is inviting you on his journey of life.🖖🏼🥰☺️

All of Avi's solo music is soul-cleansing. This is the talent that was wasting away during his final year in Pentatonix. Leaving the group was the best thing that could have happened for ALL of us. It gave us this amazing music! Avi is doing ALL of the vocal parts in this song. If you want to see the polar opposite of this, check out his best-known solo song Change On The Rise. But anything you listen to from him will impress the hell out of you. All of his songs affect me in a very deep personal way.

I think that the visual simplicity of the imagery of the video pairs nicely with the song, it's pleasant but doesn't distract from the song. He has a unique way of hypnotizing the audience, definitely. His song "Change is on the Rise" is spectacular. It is like a war cry, people joke in the comments that they played it in their car and the car car became a monster truck (there are a bunch of them, but that's the only one I remember)… mostly his music has a folk feel to it, but this one song is something entirely different.

This track will definitely pull you into a trance. It's so soothing and relaxing. If you can focus on the lyrics though they definitely add more to it. It's amazing to have followed his time with Pentatonix and then to see him now as a solo artist. It very obvious that he was really held back when he was with them. Not taking anything away from Pentatonix. They're great and always have been. But now Avi is really able to shine and practice his true art. Since you enjoyed this so much you should check out It Knows Me, Chains, and one of my favorites, Aberdeen. All of his work is amazing! He's even got some videos up from live shows he's done in an intimate setting. The quality is just as good as his studio recordings. I'm excited for you to react to more of his work.

This has been my place of peace and zen since the very first time I heard it. This man, his soul comes out in every word. This is just the calm we all tend to seek at some point in our lives. His whole album is absolutely amazing. There is no way to not feel him in this. He is such a gift to the world. Another one that is amazing is I'll get by. His whole album honestly is amazing, but yeah, this one in particular is soothing to the depth of the soul. He is in the place that calms him, resets him, Avi is home in nature. You can feel it with every word. There is only one Avi.
@charlottevan_83 жыл бұрын
You might be interested to hear in Avi's own words the story behind his writing this song. People sometimes think of it as an afterword to the war cry of "Change on the Rise", but it's not. It's the story of his escaping to the other world of Nature whenever he could, to ground himself. Check out his introduction to "Otherside" when he performed it with his touring band on August 24, 2019 in Dallas TX. And listen to the chorus starting about halfway through, where he takes the very low bass part. In the audience you could actually feel those notes reverberating in your chest. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKSli6NngLibpKs

I'm enjoying a lot your reactions tonight, just discovering you. I started with most of your PTX reactions, and as I'm difting away from them recently, I'm following closely Avi's solo career. You must know that on studio versions, Avi sings ALL THE PARTS and also plays guitar. He's actually singing the kind of music he's always loved and written. PTX was a wonderful experience but was driving him more and more in a direction that wasn't his. He is beyond talented.

Intially before leaving PTX he started his side project called "Avriel and the Sequoias" and released an debut album in 2017. Though he has a great cover of Outkast's Hey Ya most of the music leans heavily on the folk. He definitely has deeper sense of life, loss and love. The first song he released after he left PTX is Change On The Rise, which I think you'd really like. But his stuff even before that is wonderful too...Sage and Stone is another that's terrific. What that song was to me was deep. The meditation to gain the entrance to the 'out of body experience'. The water/environment carrying his soul and mind to that higher level. The smoke bombs represented the 'washing over' to carry him away. I maybe wrong but like poetry it lends to the person hearing the words.
@pamscarr86963 жыл бұрын
You are spot on with Avi. He is considered a Highly Sensitive Person. His mom has cancer earlier but was in remission so he took the PTX job rather than the opera job he was offered. HSP people can only push themselves so far and they break down and 6 years with PTX was difficult for him. Then his mother had a relapse and there was no way for him to get to her with the fast pace PTX kept. He is open that he had a complete breakdown and eventually had to leave the group because of the horrific stress he was experiencing. He was totally broken and indeed he wrote many songs to soothe his entire being. He went home to California to see his parents, spent a couple of months hiking and camping in the mountains with a friend then headed to Israel to see his brother who lives in the Galilee and to hike the Galilee area. He had purchased a cabin deep in the forests of Tennessee and returned to it. If any one was a solitary man, (Neil Diamond song) Avi was and is. He often sits on a porch or deck at his cabin with his guitar and writes and composes. He also walks through his property drinking in the healing of nature. 4 years out from PTX and he is healing. He has been a headline performer for two Nashville Festivals this fall. He also did a livestream concert this past April. This is that livestream, but some songs you might want to react to in their original videos and audios before listening to this. His voice is better than I have ever heard him.

I'm not that much of an artist, but these are my feelings on pulling emotions from people with your art, of whatever kind. 1. Art doesn't always have to be emotional. It's perfectly okay to make something for the beauty of it, and it doesn't have to "say" anything beyond "look at the beautiful colors and form," or "enjoy the beautiful harmonies and rhythm." That kind of beauty *can* provoke strong emotions, but they aren't the point. 2. When I encounter art that evokes strong emotion for me, it makes me think, "That artist understands. He (or she) knows what I'm going through." And I believe that this reaction is based in reality. When the artist knows her (or his) craft, and does it well, then "all" it takes for the artwork to evoke emotion is for it to be an emotion the artist knows personally and wants to communicate. It isn't about *trying* to create a work of art that will make people cry, or think of someone they love, or whatever; it's about communication, and art is the language the artist uses to communicate.
