Arriving Somewhere But Not Here live in Chicago by Porcupine Tree is worth reacting to or Russia On Ice 😊

It broke my heart not having a concert near enough to attend on last year's reunion tour. I did get to see and meet Gavin with his other band, the Pineapple Thief, tho! As a drummer, it was an unbelievable night. Thanks for doing Anesthetize!! The keyboardist, Richard Barbieri, is also amazing. He was enjoying himself, but he has a lot of soundscapes overlapping and requires an insane amount of focus. On the studio version, the first guitar solo is played by Alex Lifeson of Rush! Again, thanks. This rabbit hole is even deeper than Ghost!

12:05 - That solo is written by (and performed by on the album version) Alex Lifeson of Rush. :)

Thank you for this awesome reaction. I found this band a couple years ago while looking for Gavin Harrison content. My 2 favorite Gavin Harrison showcase pieces are Way out of Here and Cheating the Polygraph. The live versions from Tilburg are what you need to listen to. I believe the Cheating the Polygraph video is labeled as live from Anesthetize.

I am so happy I had the opportunity to go to Sweden to see PT last October. Three hours of bliss and hearing this song live ... such an experience.

Steven just never wears shoes when he performs. It's a thing. "But while these early days of listening to Pink Floyd may have shaped the first steps of his musical journey, one factor from his childhood still shines through plain as day - his dislike for shoes. 'I was always without shoes, always coming home with my feet bleeding,' says Wilson 'So when it came to performing live I was not trying to make a statement, I was just trying to feel more comfortable.' "

Correct Steven hasn’t worn shoes for around the last 25 years or so give or take a year!

That was awesome. Thanks for reacting to this band. I came across them in 2008 while recovering from a very bad car accident and I could not get enough of them. For years I basically listened to nothing else and I was fortunate to see them before they took a very long break. I was able to see Steven Wilson twice after that. The early stuff reminds me a lot of Pink Floyd. I would suggest you get into the zone and then listed to Voyage 34 album (4 songs 70 minutes). You can't go wrong with anything from PT so go nuts and enjoy the journey.

Should check out the vic firth video/drum cam of Gavin Harrison playing White mist by his other band pineapple thief, it’s something else. The more times u watch this video though you’ll see the keyboardist beaming when Gavin plays a fill that he likes haha

This particular song was on The Fear Of A Blank Planet released in April 2007 but the band had other amazing songs on albums dating back to 1987. Well spotted that Gavin Harrison is brilliant. He is recognised as one of the best drummers in the World.

Loved seeing your reaction and hearing your views on this song. This is my first time here, subbed at once. As far as making music with Gavin, you're not alone. He's touring with three bands and doing music with a lot more, so if you write him and he says no, it's probably due to time constraints. And btw, you didn't butcher the name of the song half as bad as a lot of other reactors. You did great. Peace.

I saw them live in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam last year. It was amazing! They played flawless for almost 3 hours. Their new album closure/continuation is great too and worth checking out. They also recorded the whole ziggo dome concert for a future blu ray release, maybe even for another live album. (There were leaflets in the corridors telling us that we were being filmed and we weren't allowed to film ourselves.) They did play anesthetize aswell in a slightly diffrent version and it was definatly a highlight of the show!🤘🏻 There is an audio recording floating around somewhere on youtube made by someone in the audience so you can already check it out, although the audio quality of that recording is not the greatest. Btw if you want to check out some more Porcupine Tree songs, Harridan, evacuate planet earth before it is recycled, Even less, chimaera's wreck and Fear of a blank planet are some great songs to check out!

Oh believe me the keyboard guy (Richard Barbieri) is having a ton of fun, he's just very focused, invested and all, but i'm sure you caught him smiling many times on this track looking at Gavin because he did some impro fills he wasn't supposed to but worked really good, he's just very professional but is a very sensitive artist for sure

In my opinion, I think Richard Barbieri, the keybordist, has, together with Gavin's drums, got the most influence/ is the biggest part in what makes this song what it is. Richard Barbieri, former member of the band Japan, another band for you to check out. Maybe not your genre though but....😉 Thanks for the video!👍

Is the other one the drummer recommended Cheating The Polygraph live in Tilburg? Because that's the best example of Gavin at his best imho.

A commenter Jon the beloved recommended that one..my drummer in my band told me about this track…but cheating the polygraph will be the next track I check out from PT

Agreed on Gavin. He also has a solo album of big band arrangements of Porcupine Tree songs called Cheating the Polygraph.
