I think TATA is taking the Nano EV in a careful manner. The Nano already had a bad PR nightmare with the fire accidents in its initial days. Any overheating or fire accidents with EVs, (which happens anyways) would be disastrous for the reputation of TATA.

Thanks for this review. You got it write but most people commenting against this car are probably not understanding the market segment it serves. Right segment for this car is people who 1. Already have a big car like Safari/innova for outstation drives 2. Have place to park 2 cars 3. Have infrastructure to charge electric car. 4. Need a small car for small city commutes like office, dropping kids to school, driving to crowded market. This car is far better than any other car currently sold in India when it comes to 1. Ability to park in tight spaces 2. Drivability on crowded, bumper to bumper city traffic There is truly no competition in current market for comet as its only product in that segment. Tiago EV segment is budget EV, which is different from lifestyle EV segment that comet comes in. If Tata relauches Nano in electric avatar, then it will be competition for comet. MG should provide fast charger and ADAS based city creep mode features and bump price to 10L to remove tag of cheapest EV

Agreed. I don't even know why the Wuling Air exists in the first place since the Bingo costs almost the same and is sooooo much better. Tiago EV wouldn't hold a candle compared to the Bingo. If MG wants to sell a very small city car, just sell the original Wuling Mini EV which is like 30% cheaper. Sending the Mini EV and Bingo as a two car lineup to India, rebadged as MGs, makes so much sense. Yet they chose the Air for some reason.

I live in Canada and one time my friend who had a Nissan Leaf with the same 125 km range had to park his car at a petrol station and get it towed because he was not near a city and his picnic project got shot to pieces due to hills and construction detours so really I guess an electric car needs at least 500kms to range to be practical although the MG does have very attractive styling in their interior compared to Nissan leaf

Mg comet price = 7.98 ex Tata tiago ev xt long range = 10.20 ex By just paying 2L more you will get: -Long range so that car can be used for both city and highway - tiago have boot space but mg has no boot. - tiago is 5 seater. No one will spend 8 lakh on car just usable for city only and that too with no boot. As there are cheaper car under 6lakh like celerio and alto which can be usable for city and highway purpose both. Plus 0-100 of mg comet ev is 32 seconds (tested by v3 cars) . Power of 41 bhp is tooooooo low for 8 lakh price tag. It looks like a toy , rickshaw-like shape. And tiny wheel.. My activa had biggerwheels than that

Even if it gives a range between 120 to 150 in real world city conditions, keep in mind that the battery is just 17 units, with a 3 unit intake per hour capacity on an AC charger, so if you keep it on charge for 5-6 hours during night time and the rate of 1 unit is 10 rs in your area (it can vary depending on which consumption slab you fall into), the cost of running this 4 seater box for 1 km wouldn't exceed 1.5 rs, that's almost as cheap as running a splendor plus for 1 km and it's base model costs only 7.3L now
