When MJ avg'd at least 35% 3pt shooting for those 5 seasons, he avg'd 2.9 attempts per game. In the seasons when he shot worse than 35%, his attempts dropped to 0.97 per game. When kobe avg'd at least 35% 3pt shooting for the # of seasons he did, he avg'd 3.4 attempts per game. In the seasons when he shot worse than 35%, his attempts actually went UP to 3.8. This highlights the BIGGEST difference between them: he RELIES on & just shoots MORE of them than MJ to score, but he isn't any better..

Of all the players I've seen, Jordan has by far the best body control in mid-air. The circus shots he pulled, especially in his earlier years, remain untouched to this day. Like Phil Jackson said - Million Dollar Hands. Add to this the hangtime and creativity and you have a once-in-a-millennium type of player.

I doubt any player will ever have the impact as Jordan did, how he changed the game, the combination of fundamentals and athleticism, the emphasis of hard work, new dimensions of winning with heart and drive, how other teams were forced to enact new defenses, being the marketing muscle of the league, helping solidify the game's international status, etc. I'm sure bigger talents, skilled players, and greater athleticism will emerge, but in terms of overall greatness no one will come close.

@trackstr18 one reason i can see why jordan is better than kobe is his attitude and charisma in playing the game and the way he deals with other players on the court. I also think that jordan is the inspiration of many current basketball players. Kobe and other basketball players, I think, imitated the moves that MJ invented.

Okay, yes, Kobe Bryant is an extraordinary player and the best in the league right now offensively (Howard defensively). But lets be honest, NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE has, is, or ever will come close to touching Michael Jordan's legacy or being as good as him. The man is just a monster in all aspects of the game and gave Chicago fans the ride of a lifetime while he was with them. Every night you just knew he was gonna put up, even when he was sick. I'm reppin my Jordan jersey till I die.

That's so funny you would say that, because statistically speaking Jordan dominated the 80's like nobody else. The Bulls were just a super young team going against seasoned veteran heavyweights who were also all-time great teams in the Celtics and Pistons, but Jordan always delivered. From 1985-1989 Jordan averaged 32.6ppg, 6.2rpg, 5.9apg, 2.8spg, 1.2bpg, .513fg% and shot .848ft%. In the playoffs he averaged 35.4ppg, 6.8rpg, 6.6apg, 2.4spg, 1.1bpg, .832ft% and shot .501fg%.

If someone CONSISTENTLY goes out & shoots better from the FT line & scores more pts than the next guy, his FT%'s & ppg avg's will REFLECT it! If someone consistently does ANYTHING better than the next guy, the RESULTS of his play will consistently reflect it! Consistently GREAT stats are a DIRECT reflection of GREAT skill! U can't separate 'em because they're a reflection of each other! U kobe homers & your constant DENIAL of the facts, are legendary. U guys take denial to another level LOL!!

I dont even see where lebron and Micheal belong in the same sentence. Sure, Lebron is great, however, hes got a lot to prove and win before u can start to compare him to Micheal. the last finals was a great start....kind of... he had his moments in the fourth that really sucked and some others that were great. "michael's highest game was 69" He ALSO had 6 assists, 18 rebs, 4 steals & 1 block on 62% shooting, and it was against a "defensive playoff" team. It STILL to this day, remains the All Time Highest rated individual performance. Kobe in his 81 pt game, was guarded by a past his prime Jalen Rose, Juan Dixon, Fred Jones & Anthony Parker? LOL!! 10 scoring titles; 8 straight 30+ppg seasons; Highest All Time Reg Season, Playoff & Finals Scoring avg & 4 of the Top 11 PPG per 48 min seasons > 81 pts

Michael, Kobe, Lebron debate solved... Michael Jordan 15 seasons played 6 Championships, 5 MVP's , 6 Finals MVP's Kobe Bryant currentley in his 15th season 5 Championships, 1 MVP, 2 Finals MVP's Lebron currently in his 8th season 0 Championships, had to leave the Cavs and join DWade and Bosh and become Robin instead of Batman. Championship to be determined. Had Michael not retired in 93 you might be saying 8 Championships 6,7 MVP's 8 Finals MVP's.? Tell me Who is the greatest?
@kickflipmaster280611 жыл бұрын
the funny thing is that today's players are faster and still defense has gotten so good now that game can't be played as fast as those days even though there are fewer great big men in the game. guys like russel westbrook and lebron james would be destroying teams even more in 80s and 90s but if you say that to anyone with nostalgia goggles and they would tell you that both of them would be just average players in 90s.

"even phil jackson says it and he coached both of them" Phil NEVER said kobe was "better" than MJ. Here's what he said: "I [never] asked Michael to be a playmaker. That's the [greatest player] that I've [ever had], that I could [consider] the [greatest] player in the game." -- Phil Jackson; "Love Triangle: Michael, Phil and Kobe", ESPN Page 2 Feb 12, 2002 You're doing what kobe homers ALWAYS do: insist that he's better than MJ at something, with NO PROOF of it, other than your opinions..
"it's not about stats" If no one from the league ever kept track of what a player consistently does on the floor, we'd be left with a BUNCH of opinionated claims about who's the best at something, with NO PROOF of it whatsoever. Whenever U say "it's not about the stats", you're LITERALLY discrediting what that player has actually DONE on the floor. SHOW ME anyone who's great at ANY facet of the game & I'll SHOW U that's it's CONSISTENTLY reflected in their on-court results, i.e. their stats.

28ppg 5apg 6rpg 51.7 FG% [PER 25.8] That's what MJ did as a ROOKIE & it's also BETTER than what kobe did last year. Not to mention, MJ LED his team in scoring, rebounding, steals & blocks that year. PER encompasses pts, rebs, assists, steals, blocks & FG%, now if U say there are "a LOT of very young talented players that have passed MJ at the same age", then PLEASE show us the "on-court" productivity/results from them that PROVES that you're saying..

"shooting more never means automatic better percentage" I didn't say it did.. Kobe has CONSISTENTLY proven to be a "volume shooter", not an efficient one. He NEEDS to shoot A LOT, just to get his pts, which is WHY his FG%'s are ALWAYS so mediocre vs guys who can score the SAME amount of pts as himself, but on LESSER attempts..

@TheDr3lee so people have their own opinions. maybe because some ppl have never seen MJ play and the only greatness they've seen is Kobe. so what? I'm not saying I'm saying that Kobe is better, but everyone has their opinions. Also that is no reason to trash on Kobe. Kobe is a great player, the best of this generation. He has been the best player of the NBA since 2002.
@1023JPG11 жыл бұрын
Also, the 90's was probably the most talented decade of NBA players and better than the 80's. The only position the 80's had better players than the 90's was Small Forwards. The 90's had way better PG's, SG's, PF's, and C's. You have no idea what you are talking about.

@jrrussell29 1986-90: avg height = 6'8.72 -- avg weight = 220.46 lbs 1992-00: avg height = 6'6.20 -- avg weight = 212.67 lbs 2003-10: avg height = 6'5.48 -- avg weight = 210.00 lbs FACT: this is currently the SMALLEST & LIGHTEST yrs on file since the 70's due to teams drafting more wing players to capitalize on the new rules that FAVORS them. And for EVERY so called athletic freak U can name from today, I can name AT LEAST 2 from MJ's era that can EASILY match them in athleticism. Grow up kid..
