Fantastic band. Great songs with great lyrics. Brilliant musicians and Jim Moginie is a musical genius and the dual guitars of him and Martin Rotsey are just so good. Literally 100's of great songs, one of the few bands I can put any album on and there's not a bad track on them. I don't know if you noticed but there's a lovely touch in the video in that they have Bones Bass guitar standing up at the back after he sadly died last year. Talking live performances to do there's some great live videos on here including on the Midnight Oil channel. Stand In Line from the Goat Island one is an excellent example. Hope to see more Oils.

The Oils are absolute legends here in OZ. Many of us try to dance like Garret. Forget Jaggers moves. They are part of Australia's fabric. Influenced millions of Aussies from late 70s. Like a fine wine they just get better. You mentioned Hoodoo Gurus; or the Gurus here. Part of my lifes soundtrack.

You alluded to something Midnight Oil does as well as, maybe better than, any band. They build tension and resolve it. The three best examples I can think of are Only the Strong, Kosciuszko and The Dead Heart. They each wind you up like a spring until the outro smooths you down on a bed of feathers. I've always wondered if they plan it or it's innate. Still not sure after 40 years.

It is unlikely when humanity will think about it and will be able to give up greedy profit on natural resources....Only the planet Earth itself can fix the situation by getting rid of us...No matter how sad it sounds, but unfortunately, it is....And many thanks to the musicians for singing about it....

Good band, typical Australian sound. Can't explain that Down Under element but I can hear it clearly. Nice to know they are still there. Another Australian great who is still going strong:..... @@TheThamesmenToo It kind of personifies Midnight Oil in an old style video, old meaning the 80's. I was in my 20's then so it seems old to me.

I became a fan of Midnight Oil in the late 80's/early 90's, at the height of their international success. Then over the next few years I bought the previous albums (starting in 1978), which were obscure for an international audience, and became a bigger fan of their early albums which show a rich combination of the raw energy of punk, with a clear progressive rock influence. The style they established with the international success of Diesel and Dust (and their hit song Beds are Burning) was great, but it became repetitive and too formulaic in my opinion, and more importantly they lost a lot of their creativity in the 90's, until the breakup in 2002. As a result I did not listen to Midnight Oil for most of my adult life, but when they released some new material in 2019 I thought it was... underwhelming (maybe it's me, I don't want to be too critical, and as for any band reformation after many years with new material, turning out as good as they once were is not really in the realm of possibilities). But this song is great, as good as some of the songs on Diesel and Dust or Blue Sky Mining, my only critique would be that it sounds too much like Midnight Oil from that era (which some people will like). But good song nonetheless, with a very poignant meaning.

I saw both NYC shows on that tour 3 or so years ago and you're spot on, they were sensational! Very different set lists each night too. TBH, I think of them as more of a punk band than a pop band. Rising Seas harks back more to the gentler Beds are Burning sound but everything before that and quite a bit since is a lot more raucus and leftfield imho. Anyway, great stuff, cheers. (Also, RIP Bones the bass player). FYI, this is a good live clip imho: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWnGk32AfLWcisk
