I've carried the NAA mini on and off since I purchased it in the mid-90s.. usually as a backup but occasionally as a primary where I had to hide my gun.. I used to go dancing in the hip hop clubs where a bouncer patted you down for guns... I wanted something on me not so much for inside the club but for the long walk to the car in the dark parking lot at the end of the night.. so I used to hide my little NAA mini in the arch of my shoe... Once inside the club I'd head to the men's room and retrieve my little NAA mini put it in a pocket holster in my front pants pocket.. not the hammer of Thor but it was something in case I got jumped in the parking lot at the end of the night

As a general rule, I just avoid establishments that make me feel like I need a gun. Besides I'd be surprised if a DA didn't twist it around that you snuck a gun into the club because you planned to shoot someone.

@@paulross9287 first of all the naa mini wasn't for protection inside the club as I had stated in my story... It was for walking through the dark parking lot at the end of the night out to my car in which case I would have legally been able to use it..

Ya gotta appreciate what the man is doing in preparation alone for these jelly tests. Refrigerated space, straining the gel, ammo cost. His ballistic tests have evolved into a pretty freakin solid evaluation. CCi has ruled the .22 for so long this punch and the silver tips are keepin em honest at the very least. Another cool test-

For real. Appreciate you mentioning all that. Most people don't have a clue how much work goes into making videos... esp these videos. It's not cheap or easy. (...and it don't help that youtube throttles all the gun channels content, so they don't get recommended to new viewers. They get their old viewers, but new people will not find these videos unless they specifically search the right keywords in youtube or google).

Thank you for this Video!! I own a NAA-22MSC and was wondering how well Federal Punch ammo would work in it's 1 1/8 inch barrel. The 22LR is the most underestimated round, and the Federal Punch just made the 22LR a more viable option for personal protection. Nobody wants a hole in them that wasn't there to begin with, and no firearm is a joke!

I love my mini. Same as yours, NAA22lr. Fantastic little gun. I **highly*** recommend the black rubber Hogue grips! I have them on this one and my Ranger ll breaktop version. They make the gun stable in the hand rather than tending to flip up when you shoot, and it's easier to press that firm trigger when the pistol is firm in the hand too. Also they do not increase the size of the gun, except perhaps by a millimeter or so thicker grip. To my mind the big folding plastic grips defeat the purpose, making the gun much larger. I like to be able to palm it, like a magic trick. Surprise surprise, I'm armed!

Love those Federal Punch and they do not disappoint in that No. American Arms, I have always contended that if you have to have have a big gun you must have a little ??? I like that new break top NAA and the one with the swing out cylinder as the negative to the standard model is the reload time not that that is a consideration when you get this micro revolver, love mine I have 2 in 22 LR and one in 22 Mag and a convertible cylinder and am pursuing one in a 22 short as well

Umm, that little revolver is okay accurate at 5 feet...at 7 yards it takes amazingly good shooting to hit a target...we look at ours as a surprise! stick it in a badguy's ear type of weapon...as a single action, figure maybe 2 shots downrange at 10 feet and closing, which may or may not be enough...the other thought is these revolvers are very loud, which might be a factor in a public setting...

Thank you so much for this video, very informative. This gun isn’t the best choice for self-defense if you have other options, but it’s a choice you can always choose due to size and weight. If you train with it frequently enough, I think the mini can handle most self-defense scenarios. It's also good to see that we have ammo good enough to stop a threat out of such a short barrel. Again if you could have something like a Glock 26, that's better! But when you can't, the mini will do.

Great test Tools ! I just told you I picked one of these up yesterday and would love seeing a test with it. I must have missed this video. I didn't realize you done beat me to getting one. I've had a couple of these in the past but traded them off. I'm keeping this one. It's going to live on me LoL! It's going to be an always backup and sometimes primary- like taking the dogs out and trash duty. I've been trying to decide on carry ammo. Don't have any punch, but I've got Stingers and mini mags. @@ToolsandTargets Roger that ! I wouldn't want to get into a major gun battle with the little revolver. But it just could be just enough to save a guys butt in a bad situation. I got mine for $199. And it came with a real nice, padded and lockable handgun case that's big enough to hold probably a dozen of these little buggers. These NAA's have been pretty hard to find in my area for awhile now. I was real surprised when my local shop had one just the other day. And they only had one. I quickly put it on lay a way and went back this morning and picked it up. I'd sure be interested in seeing some more test with this little booger. Hec, I think I'll name mine "Booger" ! 😆.

Great summer size carry in shorts pocket. No holster needed. Also the NAA has a safety feature where you carefully lower the hammer in the safety notch between the rounds in the cylinder. No chance of accidental discharge. Have carried mine for 12 years now. No complaints. To all the Supermen who say it is useless; haven't seen one of you volunteer to receive a round from one. Check out the NAA-22MSC. I own one and it is a blast. It comes with 2 cylinders. 1x 22WMR (aka 22Mag) Cylinder and 1x 22LR Cylinder in which you can fire 22S, L, and LR.

I just picked up the LR Holster Version today. This grip gives me 3 fingers of purchase on the little revolver. I thought that my Ruger LCP Max was small! This thing is about 1/3 the size when folded up. Can't wait to shoot it now.

Thanks .. I wish you could have tested the cci velocitor against those two other loads... Velocitor is what I carry because all the ballistic test I have seen the velocitor penetrates deeper.. with a heavier weight..None of the 22 hollow points out of the NAA open up and expand.

I have the NAA 22LR HG which just like yours but it has the fold down holster grip. It clips perfectly in my front pocket and is a good back up to my S&W shield 9.

I've been carrying my mini 22mag for over 10 years. My wife got me the fold up holster/full size grip. It's such a fun little pistol to shoot now. The paperwork tells you not to use +p rounds, but I've not had a problem yet with mine. Other than a case getting stuck from time to time

What I wanted to see, the Stinger versus the punch in a short-barrel. They seemed fairly equal in other tests. But needed a short-barreled test. Love the lcp2 22 period will switch to the punch

I'm sitting here- watching this video, while I'm cleaning and getting to know the little NAA 22 LR mini revolver that I picked up the other day. 1-1/8th inch barrel. I done went and named him my Little Bugger ! LoL. But seriously, I've been wanting one of these for awhile. My shop just got this model in, and the 22mag only with the short barrel. I chose this one. If I'm gonna pack a mini- I want the smallest I can get. Little Bugger is gonna mainly be my backup to my S&W 642 that is always with me. And, sometimes, my main carry gun. Just depends on what I'm doing and my mood. I really am liking this revolver. I ordered a real nice leather pocket holster this morning to pack him in. This gun is gonna always be on me. I told my wife I was going to put it in my sleeping pants at night. She gave me a weird look. LoL. She knows I might just be serious! Anyway,vi got a question for you Tools. Is the inside of your frame, where the cylinder goes, finished pretty rough? Mine is highly polished very good on the outside. But the inside looks kinda like somebody ran a rake through wet concrete. It's not gonna hurt anything. But I'm just curious if this is just how all of these little revolvers are produced. I might call NAA tomorrow and talk with them about it. Thanks man for taking time to read my rants and to even answer back like you do.

Just went and looked at mine. The inside of the frame around the cylinder is definitely not finished like the rest of the outside. You can see some tool marks going side to side but nothing I can actually feel when I run my fingernail across it.

@@ToolsandTargets That's exactly how mine is. Tool marks, but feels smooth when I run my finger across it. I guess that's just how they finish them. Thanks man for taking the time to check yours, and for letting me know. I figured it was normal. Kinda weird They polish up the outsides so shiney, then leave the inside looking unfinished. But I'm not complaining. It seems like a great little gun for the money. Can't wait to get my little custom leather holster I ordered yesterday.

@@ToolsandTargets I just called NAA. I spoke with a very nice young lady. She said yes, the inside of the frame is finished with a file. They can't buff it out like the outside. And I ask her about ammo. She said not to use any cartridge that was 1800 fps or more. And no foreign ammo. Only USA manufactured. Just thought I'd let you know.

I have a NAA 22mag, and I like it for a backup pocket pistol. The only thing with it is that the reload is so time consuming that I don't even bother to carry extra ammo for it because I can't see ever having the time to reload it.

Get a 22lr cylinder, be sure you get it timed though. I shoot 22lr out of mine when 22 mags are difficult to find.

@@ToolsandTargets I doubt it, but maybe Yellow Jackets or those Aguila Interceptor HPs? I would also be curious about the segmenting stuff, like CCI's Subsonic Segmented or even the Quiet Segmented, since they are designed to split up at relatively low speeds 🤷🏻‍♂️

Very nice test! You got a new sub out of me! I love these mini revolvers, shootingthebull did some comparisons with some CCI (36gr mini mags) and a couple of Aguila rounds (Interceptors and SuperMaximums) that penetrated better than the Federal Punch did here. I’d love to see them head to head with the punch through this little barrel though!

I love my NAA Bugout 2 (22 mag). I can bust clay pigeons at 7 yards fairly easily. The actual front night sight helps tremendously. I'm always armed 🙂 they make a great anti dog/taking out the trash pistol if you get accurate enough

Remember-ballistics are heavily dependent upon ammunition type and load. With the right ammunition, this is a viable ultra concealable option.

I called NAA awhile back when I picked up one of their mini's in 22LR with the 1-1/8" barrel. The lady that answered the phone was both nice and knowledgeable. She told me that the 22lr model would handle rounds that were under 1800 fps. She also informed me that they recommend US made ammo. So yeah, the 22lr models will handle the Punch ammo with no problem.
