I think some (much?) of the issue with Captain Marvel is that she was introduced as a character fraught with issues. First she was shackled, and afflicted with memory loss. Then she was left with these MASSIVE powers but no real training or guidance in using them. Then of course, she takes a horrendous misstep, nearly committing a genocide. Small wonder the character was sullen and unlikable. If they'd somehow resolved these issues as part of her back story, she'd probably be more relatable and likable.

I think that most celebrities, especially females have forgotten that the reason the job pays so well is that they become a product. It is the ultimate form of indentured servitude. No privacy, loss of free speach of opinions, unless it's one 'ell of a soap box. You can't be "anybody" in front of a camera, if you all but scream personal views whenever you can. Well Brie was in the last Fast and Furious movie, and will likely be in the next. I doubt she will have issues getting employed... I had never heard of Brie L before her appearance in the marvel films. I don’t know if it’s just her acting or if it’s the character, but she was instantly forgettable. There was no charisma at all coming from her. And in a film full of charismatic characters, you need to give a bit more to get noticed. Because of that I have no interest in watching any film/series with her as a main character. Film making is a business. And although it’s failing, Disney seems to have the brains to not keep on pushing characters that have financially failed. It’s not only the actresses but the story lines that are plain bad. Their personality is being a woman and powerful, that’s it. I loved Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, can we get another cool hero like that?
