Miku Smart Baby Monitor Review

We bought this camera because they didn’t not require a subscription to use their breathing monitor, however the company was recently sold and are not requiring a $10 months subscription on top over the very pricey product. Now it is as if we bought a $400 camera and cannot use any of the features we paid for when we bought it.

WARNING BEFORE YOU BUY!!! Starting October 2nd 2023, Miku will require a monthly subscription ($9.99/month) to use almost all the features of the Miku (including remote viewing outside your home wifi). I regret recommending it to others.

I don’t regret recommending it when I did because it really WAS a good product. But I’m very disappointed that the new company has decided to charge for features that were originally included.

So I don’t understand why these monitors don’t have the pop out/picture in picture video option. For example, I can switch apps from KZbin and continue to watch YT videos while scrolling Twitter or switching through apps. I hate that I can’t watch the camera and use my phone at the same time… if you have never heard of this, you have to enable it from YT account

Hi Coral, thanks for the thorough review. Have you ever experienced any false alarms with the Miku? For example, the alarm going off because it's not detecting breathing even though baby is fine? Thanks!

Yes, this has happened a couple of times to me. Every time it has happened my son was curled up in a position I call “roast chicken” with his legs tucked up underneath him and his butt up in the air. He sleeps like this a lot and it usually doesn’t have any trouble, but there have been about two times where it set the alarm off.

Hi coral, do you have any issues with the app and connectivity? My wife and I just put our Miku Pro together and I downloaded the app and noticed some negative reviews in the App Store (and some negative reviews on KZbin). I’d be curious to hear your opinion.

I do have connectivity issues with mine. I have the Miku original from 2020. From what I've heard, a lot of the connectivity issues have been fixed with the Pro. How has it been working for you?

Are you able to set the notifications to like a ringtone to where it would wake a hard sleeper? I go back to work in about 6 weeks and my husband is a heavy sleeper(and my son awakes but doesn’t really cry but won’t go back to sleep) so was looking for a camera he can get a loud notification when he awakes.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found a way to get a more persistent or loud notification from the app. The notification isn’t very loud at all.

Does this alert you if your baby stops breathing ?

Yes. You can turn on an alarm that goes off when the Miku doesn't detect any movement or breathing.

Can it play one lullaby sound after another or do you have to keep selecting different sound noises?

It will continuously play the sound or lullaby that you selected. You can also put it on a sleep timer. If you want it to play a different one, you will have to manually select a new one.

Awful bait and switch, spread the word avoid Miku. Paid over $500 with their stand and now all the sudden to use any of the features got it for they want up to $360 a year. Awful Awful company. P
