I always hate the whole "protecting the image of -parent-" trope. Like, no, this is who your mother/father is, any child DESERVES to know that, it's what the mum wanted the kid to know, otherwise they wouldn't have done it in the first place. Stop treating adults like children, lmao.

@@Spicy_Spores Maybe it's because you don't have a child but a parent does that not because the child doesn't deserve to know the truth, but because every child should be able to form their own opinion about their parent for themselves without one putting ideas into their head. Besides, it's HIGHLY inappropriate to involve children into adult affairs. Children shouldn't be told everything, that's why they shouldn't have unvetted access to the internet. Maybe with time, open up and talk about it more or let the other parent tell the children. Children just deserve to have both parents in their lives without one trying to manipulate them into hating the other and that would be the biggest reason why a parent would mention such a thing.

"Okay kids, the thing to do is to let your dad die alone" is the wildest plot point like what were the writers thinking ? Mom can come take care of the kids and her dying ex or like an Auntie or Uncle or Grandparent or new girlfriend or something what even is this. In the movie world the Dad has literally 0 friends or family that can help take care of him and his kids. It's like they didn't want another key character, that would just be TOO MUCH writing work, so the CENTRAL plot point of the movie was just "yeah we're not gonna hang out with you while you die of cancer, gross".

I've never worked at an aquarium BUT I am dive certified (used to volunteer on a SAR team) and I live on the coast - and love going to the aquarium and watching them dive there! Those boards have pencils and they work just fine. They are useful for communicating with the public (kids love it!) and with each other. Many aquariums cannot afford the fancy SCUBA comms that are available (essentially under-water walkie talkies) and go this route instead - clever and cheap! BTW - just some fun info? Sharks *truly* do not care about you when you're in deep water (unless you have been spear fishing and are carrying those around - then you might find yourself having to give up your dinner to swim away!). Sharks generally do not care about you *period* but if you are in shallow water (the wave breaks, really) towards dusk (to be clear, shark attacks can def happen at any time, but are more likely at that time) they might mistake you for something they *do* care about. That's generally why people are bitten and then left alone to bleed and be rescued. Sharks don't generally like the way we taste. That's also why essentially every shark attack you hear about (and there aren't that many) take place on the beach and not in the open water. Sharks aren't out there hunting. The aquarium is similar! Sharks are also super smart and do associate the aquarium staff with being fed and so on. They usually have specific spots of the tank they are trained to swim to for feeding time (usually 3x or so a week, while the rest of the fish eat daily). They're used to the people there diving to clean the tank and do cool little shows for patrons and they just keep on swimming! I LOVED this movie when it came out which is embarrassing to admit because we are the same age. I have just always had a soft spot in my heart for Miley for some reason, and for cheese-corn-combo YA novels-turned-movies. Sparks essentially monopolized the scene for those throughout the entirety of our junior high to adult years, so what was a gal to do? LMAO. Love this video like I do all yours, though. Comedic timing is on point as per ushe (is that how you spell it? the fun abbreviation of "usual"? ushe? youghe? LMAO). The raccoon's text bubble SLAYED me and so did the painful beach scene. That WAS a snail's pace but didn't feel as bad the first time I saw it. EDIT: OMGGGS. I commented *TOOO SOON* because I had NOT made it to the piano "sesh" yet and the freaking overlay you did of the piano sound KILLED ME. I had to pause-to-laugh-style get through that ish. EEEEEPPP. 🤣 And the freaking four-part harmony you did with yourself to announce the news about Ronnie's dad (and his shoes)? Why are you so damn talented? WHYYY?

My dear brother, Zac, had the cancer. He was on hospice, but his pain became too much for hospice to help him. He lived his last 8 days in a hospital. He was given the maximum amount of pain meds to the point he couldn't talk much anymore, but his body still shook from the pain. It was the most difficult experience to watch someone who you love be in horrible pain, and there's nothing i could do to ease his pain. Zac was an amazing big brother, and I love him always . Zac had a great sense of humor and he would have loved these funny movie reviews 💙💙

This movie had a chokehold on me as a teen because I was obsessed with Liam Hemsworth and now watching it as an adult I am like, "ughhh really?" and the chemistry between them both is underwhelming ahahha

I was 12 and a huge Miley Cyrus fan (still am) when this movie was released and I loved it. For that reason I’ve chosen to never revisit it because I know it definitely hasn’t aged well

To me,the saddest thing about this is that the mom(Kelly Preston) died of cancer a couple years ago. Hearing her talk about the effects of the cancer on Greg Kinnear's character hit me in the feels😪 I just lost my grandmother (basically my mother since 6 months old) to cancer in October so anything regarding cancer definitely gets me going💔. But thank you Jaime for turning the sadness around with your humor..you make me laugh even on my worst days

Exactly, the ga aquarium is in Atlanta, no where near the ocean. This drove me crazy because I live like an hr from there and 5 hours from any beach.

On the topic of dad's knowing nothing about their kids: towards the end of my senior year in high school, I went into the psych ward for a couple months. Near graduation, my dad showed up to the high school DEMANDING my school record and a copy of my diploma. I was at the hospital, so they couldn't call me to the office to verify identity. The admin literally had to say "SIR WE HAVE NO IDEA WHO YOU ARE. You can't just walk in her demanding stuff, we have no proof that you're her dad." And that's because in the 4 years I had been at that school, my dad had never once called or appeared at my school for any reason whatsoever. Gave my mum and me a hearty laugh at the wild audacity.

@hollyk7052 isn't it fun being part of the deadbeat dad club? my dad didn't even show up when I went to urgent care for anaphylaxis when i was like 10. I needed 2 shots of adrenaline to keep my lungs open. My mum called him a few times. I can laugh about these things now that I'm older.

Y’all’s trauma is cute. I met my dad for the first time since I was 1 (he had an affair WHILE my mom was pregnant with me), when I was 8. No one thought to mention that he was married and had a son, so I was like “who dees people?” I thought his wife was the maid- and said as such. She did not like me. Second time I saw him I was 12 (he lived two houses down from my best friend and she wanted to see him, so I rang the bell. Awkward.) Never saw him again. He gave me r200 for some of my birthdays; found out years later my mom gave me that money not him. Also he forgot my birthday most years even though our birthdays are on the SAME DAY. He dead now. P.s I’m joking about calling other trauma “cute” trauma is not comparable. Also I’m not that traumatized. Maybe
@Spectreffex8 ай бұрын
@katherinekennedy2871 that's a pretty good deadbeat dad story, pretty high on the list for "wtf is wrong with him" stories. For sure trauma is not comparable, so I knew you weren't being rude, no worries. I'm sure a lot of us could write really good books filled with stories, not even just about dads lol. Why are they so bad with birthdays? Haha I thought I got a birthday card in the mail when I turned 28 or so, Instead it was a Funeral pamphlet for his brother that I met once when I was about 6 who probably didnt even remember my name (for reference, I have 42 1st cousins on my dad's side). I wasn't even invited to the funeral, but sure - send me a pamphlet lolol.

This move brings back so many memories. My mom and I drove to Tybee island where it was filmed. We lived an hour and a half away! And we got to see her and say hey. She was filming but she was on break walking to a makeup tent or something. She was very sweet to everyone. :)
