@zinzhieaziz I'd have to find the cutscene again (the one of him talking to Profnana) but I believe he was following a monkey to try and locate Dr. Primitive but then he caught the memetic virus and entered his deal with Profnana to get rid of it Edit: ok so apparently he found Dr. Primitive's location but some of the monkeys found him and I'm assuming infected him with the virus then gave him the deal of helping Profnana in exchange for removing it

Another reason why I think he knows his location is probably because Dr. Primitive might be in amphoreus. Given that Dr. Primitive's location is unknown and constantly on the run from the Galaxy Rangers, Amphoreus will be the best place to hide since it is hidden and unknown to most people and can only be seen through the mirrors from the Garden of Recollection. I think that's why Mr. Reca knows where he is since he is a memokeeper.

Now that you say it The High Evolutionary and Dr. Primative really have a lot of similar goals.... Holy mother fudgen shirtballs. The galaxy rangers are literally the Guardians of the Galaxy. Boothill is like Nebula, his entire body was reaplaced with cybernetic shit and his only goal is revenge. Rappa is Rocket with her being a genetic experiment seen as a failure.

When Rappa was first drip marketed I was like “Oh she seems like a fun character!” and than during the start of the 2.6 story I already loved her more than I thought she would, but than her backstory came up and it legit felt like a slap to the face like just wow. Also LOVED the scene of Robin on the DJ set up with March and Boothill dancing, so goofy and so good

I know right? Hoyo knows how to make us think one way about a character then completely flip the script. Its all tragic backstorys but they all deal with it in so many different ways and have such different personality's. I just never expected Rappa to litterally be so haunted by her past she hides in her ninja world to keep from going insane.

@ I’m an absolute sucker for backstories that at least makes a character’s behavior make sense even if, in the case of villians, it doesn’t excuse their actions. But Rappa literally basically acting delusional as a form of escapism as well as a way to stay sane was not what I expected and was WAY better than I thought it would be. Hoyo cooked real well on this one

It's hardly a new one. Argenti has quite a few of the same story beats - a tragic war-torn past leading him into using beauty as a crutch to find something sane to hold onto and believe there's something beautiful in this terrible universe. Hoyo really polished the ideas brought up in Honkai Impact where - while looking at the main characters - they posited a lot of strong people tend to have gone through some awful experiences, and while those experiences may have helped them grow, they usually are associated with frankly unnecessary suffering that they wouldn't wish on anyone else, and usually leaves them with any number of scars and idiosyncrasies, physical or mental.

…it took me until now to realize the foreshadowing with Evil Ninja Osaru’s name. While the emphasis might be different, “Osaru” is phonetically very similar to “oozaru”, the Japanese word for “great ape”. The hints toward him being Dr. Primitive were right there from the beginning.

For a "filler patch", this story was pretty well written and getting both Boothill and Rappa backstory was a treat! I was planning to skip Rappa and was trying to save for Firefly on my F2P, but this story made me pull for her, and I can say it was good decision. ❤ Rappa!

As a KR player I think some parts of this quest are better conveyed in KR while some are better conveyed in EN. Obviously no comment on CN or JP since I never checked them out or understand them well enough. For example, while our cultures are different a lot of things Rappa says make more sense to Korean players due to the shared usage of expressions based on Chinese characters and references to eastern hero fiction. Rappa mispronouncing Penacony is also her using four Chinese characters that sound similar to Penacony in Chinese, Korean and Japanese, which is impossible to carry over to English. On the other hand, the threat of banagibberish is better conveyed in EN as random words getting replaced with "bana" in a very fixed tone. The English-speaking audience is more familiar with this kind of memetic threats and cognitohazards from SCP and such. In comparison, the KR version just translated it to characters randomly ending sentences with "nana" or adding a "-nana" suffix to terms, which has the same fundamental idea but doesn't come across quite the same. It just sounds like one of the many quirky speech patterns found in anime and such, and comes across more goofy and cringe than spooky and threatening. At least more so than EN anyway. I play Genshin in EN and watch KR streamers to check out both versions. It looks like I'll have to start doing the opposite for HSR, play in KR and watch your playthroughs.

It was super fun watching you play this. Personally I liked it a lot, but it was also the first continuance I played separately after I got caught up on the story so I can't really compare it to anything yet. That said I think the people who hated it are a) a loud minority and b) decided on how they liked it during the early parts where it was all silliness and memes and didn't wait for the meat of the story before locking in on the opinion.

I do wish HSR did child-past reenactments using a dedicated child model, rather than the current one, like Wuthering Waves does. It was only in the final scene that we truly get to see how she looked like as a child as she escaped the facility in a whirlwind of death. Stuff like the raggedness and the attached chains and thick shock collar made the whole scene much more shocking because while we had experienced Rappas past verbally it was all with her current self's well kempt visuals (and the chains-and-collar weren't even described!) which doesn't do the emotion or awfulness justice.
