The MacDonnell Douglas F/A-18 was from the start to be upgraded as the Airframe evolved. Now front line F-35's are Carrier based assets but the F/A-18 was and will be a work horse for many Nations.

Ok. Please tell us more.. As these road base operations have been done here since 60's. Starting with Mig 21's. This is closed road section from public traffic during practise. Alternate landing places i guess called in English. These are all over Finland. Example road signs can be seen around 40+ seconds. And on the left facing other direction etc.

This is very much roadbase operation: highway closed from traffic for Air Force ops. The strip is between two junctions / road bridges.
