Thank you for this. Another tactic I find helpful (and I hope others will too) relates to racing anxious thoughts that have no grounding in reality (I believe you you describe here is situational anxiety, i.e., there's something or an event they're worrying about). I (and others as well I'm sure) have anxious and crazy thoughts that come out of nowhere. Thoughts that make you question the foundation of your identity. They could be self-depreciating thoughts (beating yourself up), bizarre thoughts, or anything that really causes you a lot of anxiety no matter how ridiculous it is. Here's the key that generally works for me: You don't have to listen to your brain! Don't fight these thoughts or assign any sort of meaning to them - they're simply anxious or depressive thoughts. They have no meaning if you assign them no meaning! Welcome them; try saying to them "welcome, come on in. You can hang out for a while but I'm moving on with my day." Over time the negative stigma attached with these kinds of thoughts will melt away and you will find yourself suffering less. This takes time, practice, and relapses happen, but it works! Namaste.

Thanks Julia, I have practiced mindfulness before, but not in a positive way like this. having tough times at moment and resisting going on meds again. Your idea sound related to the law of attraction, I.e whatever we focus on we get more of.. Will give this a go, thanks x

Very helpful, especially the second portion noting the how the thoughts we entertain can wire the brain into a pattern. I relate to this.

hey Julia Thank you for your explanation. I already do this to think about a happy thing or doing something else to get rid of my anxiety. Butt then I get into avoidense mode and just don't get done where I was getting my anxiety over. And that makes it even harder and gives my more anxiety. Is there a way to get out of this vicious circle?
@freshliving41992 жыл бұрын
Distracting yourself from yourself doesn’t help you overcome the issue. It only helps you have a temporary feeling of relief. To overcome anxiety you need to understand what it is and how it got inside you in the first place. It’s root cause is the anger and resentment you have. Drop that and the anxiety will disappear like it never existed.

I found if the mind is trying to overcome something that it is gossiping with itself and the voices gets louder and it speeds up, its walking away from stillness.

I just want my anxiety feelings to stop sometimes fears setting symptoms off sometimes symptoms in body come and brain trys figuring reason why . I no all the daft shit I've been thinking this month is making me feel like my brain carnt cope . But I keep telling myself it can actually I'm recovering from panic dissorder I had no to bk panic attacks from 2003to 2006 Then I got my anxiety in waves . My anxiety is set of with feelings of over whelmed. Taken stuff litlary and repeating on a stuck loop . I want to get it bk out my head now as it's making me feel like poop face is tired eyes head .body akeing. I've fibromialga and underactive thyroid to . I actually know that sometimes fibro makes me shake . It's just as of may Let when I've got mental heath assement stuff with vodaphone lots appointments .actually it's the mental heath assement that's triggerd me off this downwards apniar as he's swaying towards somethink I never expected . And I fear it so bad .because he said u can slip into psychosis with it . But I don't ever want that to happern . I even freak myself sometimes and think just coz I've thought it or wrote my fears it's more likely to happern But then I have to reassure myself not because I've thought of winning lottery and that he at happens and I've thought off being thin again that never happens and I've thought of not having fibromialga and being able to do stuff and np matter how hard I want it it dosnt happern . So that's it right there a thought is a thought an that's it . But still I don't want to go on meds coz I've been off for 2 years off citilopram I was stuck on for 9 .
