I suggest some oil On long treaded bolts, because they can seize again or damage the treads. Remember, a screaming nut always needs a lubricant.

Yes, that is absolutely correct. But if the bolt or nut is very hot the oil just boils away with smoke,

I have just purchased this very same tool from a different vendor, only it's a 115 volt unit, (more usable in many more places in my opinion), This tool works very well, it' absolutely great and a super addition to my tool array. Instead of having to break out the torches in a lot of cases I just have to run a power cable to the job and saves a LOT of time and effort. You can heat up just the fastener you need to without the overspill from a flame unit.

Just purchased this same kit, great for bolts close to hoses brake lines and rubber bushings where fire is bad. I just find the button cheap. And cuts out with the slightest movement. But other then that i got out really rusty bolts out very easily. I compared without heat. Wouldn’t budge with my impact, then applied 20secs of heat and BAM! no struggles 🤣 Amazon rocks.

I wonder if it might be good to have some Pyrex or ceramic cylinder to wrap the coil around for protection of the coil against damage, like the welding cups used in Tig torches. Then there's no abrasion or possibility of burning the insulation and causing a short in the coil.

Tack Johan.

@@tompas11A3n52KkX You can with non-ferrous metals, it just takes a chunk more power, IE: "The following summarizes conversion efficiencies for common base metals heated with induction heating: • Pure iron 95-98% • Medium carbon steel 85-90% • 316 stainless steel 45-50% • Aluminum 35-40% • Copper 5-15%." So you might need a ~5-10kw unit to have similar results with copper. If you look it up, it's how a lot of industrial processes are done (IE: welding tubes for HVAC applications/manufacturing).

@@karljay7473 Yeah I have seen that build. It's more powerfull but a little to big for heating up bolts and nuts in tight spaces I think. Don't you agree?
@karljay7473
@karljay7473 4 жыл бұрын
@@tompas11A3n52KkX Yes, it's bulky, but you could maybe scale it down, IDK electronics enough to know how to scale it down, but you could and save a lot of money. If it's $50 for that setup, then maybe 30~40 for a smaller one. The main point is that the ready made one is $250, this is $50, so you save a ton of money.

I bought it from amazon for almost $ 200. I am trying to loosen up a cam shaft gear bolt . I am trying to use it , hopefully tomorrow, 1/ 16 / 23 . The way the user manual talks it says I almost need to be naked to use it safely, i have had my shoulder & knee replaced . It is saying they might come out .🤣 , Oh My , is it MRI? They say made in USA 🤣 but on the box it says made in china 😂 They call it : HOT ROD . The book scares the daylights out of the buyers . What the duck 😛

although it can't directly heat aluminum, copper, lead, couldn't you heat an iron or steel crucible with those metals inside?

You can heat those metals inside an iron crucible to a certain temperature but you can't melt them except lead.

This review is just what I’ve been looking for. The machine looks like all of the cheap models for sale on eBay for £160-180 I need to remove 7 steel exhaust bolts from an aluminium motorcycle head, I’m thinking it’s worth paying for if that’s all I do with it...as long as it lasts that long!! (Cheap Chinese Crap) I would think as long as you watch the insulation and replace before the coils touch,or a a part of the uninsulated coil touches the workpiece it ‘should’ be ok. I’ve been wondering how long it would last before breaking, is it still ok, have you used it a lot?

Thanks. Mine is still working ok and I have been using it many times helping friends removing bolts. As you mention, it is important to keep an eye on the insulation of the coils.
