I don't think Necropolis28 and Turnip28 have any relation to each other (other than both being 28mm games with 28 in their names). They appear to be written by difference people. Apologies if I'm incorrect.

Great list! There were a couple I have never seen before. A coule others you may want to check out are A Song of Blades and Heroes. It has an interesting game mechanic. And Star Breach. It uses an initiative system like Bolt Action and it has faction lists where you can take Jedi against Space Marines.

Great video with a lot of interesting info. You missed a couple that I would recommend. 5 Leagues from the borderland, and 5 Parsecs from home. Very cool skirmish games with campaign / RPG twist to them.

I have actually covered these gamws before, but Categorizing these are hard and I may need to change my method of if I've previously covered them to not mention again in the future.

Lion Rampant and Dragon Rampant are absolutely awesome to play. Everything Snarling Badger is good fun, and the recent Deth Wizards is a great "play as the bad guys" romp. OPR wins every challenge against the bigger corp titles, excluding Warcry. BTW, I also recommend Sludge Wargame, which has a kitbash potential close to Turnip28 and works very well as a larger scale type of game.

@LucaLacchini7 ай бұрын
@@andersand6576 Lion Rampant (2nd ed) is the OG ruleset, and has a expansive coverage of historical wargaming from the bronze age up to the early Renaissance. Give it a try if you're interested in the stuff, and it'll be easier as you already know the basics from XR.. Dragon Rampant is a self contained version of the rules to include fantasy elements such as big creatures, unit of monstruous humanoids, spellcasters, etc.

A couple of my favorites are De Bellus Antiquitatus (DBA) for historical and Hordes of the Things (HOtT) for fantasy and sci-fi. Definitely not everyone’s taste but miniature and scale agnostic, small foot print and quick play.

Just to clarify: Space Station Zero isn't a dungeon crawl 'through space'; it takes place entirely on the titular station.
@joshbell65687 ай бұрын
Idk I guess it depend on your view. I would call it a rogue lite(not roguelike) space dungeon crawl as it as “leveling”, gear upgrades, and a branching path.

Here is the reality as I see it. Every game is miniatures agnostic. Even Warhammer can be miniatures agnostic. All you need are the game rules and the willingness to use miniatures from whatever source you choose to use.

A great minis agnostic game that went unmentioned here is Frostgrave, by Joseph McCullough (same author of Oathmatk), it's basically a spiritual sequel of Mordheim, but with wizards as main characters and a frozen city as its setting.

I like games rules you can keep in your head and that don't use a ton of status tokens. Nothing likea a mini with a trail of tokens behind it to throw immersion. However, it's fun to play something a bit more granular now and then too. One game I'd like to mention here that's MAG and what I would call a semi-lite rule set is Five Parsecs From Home. It has the added value of being a solo game though it's pretty easy to set up a multiplayer game and campaign.
