The justification of 'hoarding is better for the environment actually' is just the type of questionably ethical psuedo-advice I needed to hear today, so thank you.

Delaying the inevitable trip to the landfill later 😣 "questionably ethical" 😅 should be in my profile along with "advice for entertainment purpose" advisory

I’m sad that we’ve become a world of extremes with little room for nuance. It’s either Minimalism or Maximalism. With no actual definition of what either of those words mean.

The words mean different things to different people. They’re on a spectrum 😀

Glad that I went down a minimalism rabbit hole. it taught me to appreciate what I have I wouldn't say I'm still a minimalist but I certainly put a lot more thought behind what I buy.

As a minimalist millennial, and a lover of history, I think you've made the best visual representation of the early 2000s! Your research into the ebbs and flows of architecture and art, wealth and poverty, familial pressure, and generational mindsets were truly inspired. It is odd to think about the actual timeframe for trends. I was a teenager during the housing market crash, and seeing my parents spending so much money on possessions and vacations, let's just say, like you, 2016's Marie Kondo changed my life. I will always be a minimalist, but my husband and baby are not. Thank you for this mini documentary of the past 20 years of home trends, this gave me a "big picture" examination that I've never considered!!!! 10/10!

The shift to maximalism feels related to the birth of the “weird girl” aesthetic. Maybe you can make a vid about it?

I found this video very charming! I sorta got on the minimalism train but actually found it quite stressful… I got so preoccupied w getting rid of things which wasn’t a good thing for my mental health. Note to self: having less stuff doesn’t necessarily lead to a happier life. Your life may suck more with just one pair of undies and socks…

Very true. You just look for more things to declutter 😅 I think at some point I got a bit tyrannical with getting rid of stuff and had to tell myself to chill out.

I prefer a zen lifestyle, I’ve notice zen houses some rooms have clutter and some have minimal rooms each with a function.
