I'd never even touched a Trolling Motor until last weekend. Went out on my jon boat, bottomed my motor into the mud and it quit working about 20 minutes into my float...thought I was screwed. Then I came to YT, typed in "minn kota trolling motor", your video was 1st or 2nd I watched. Last night I took it apart, cleaned out a bunch of mud and sludge. Cleaned it up. Regreased everything. Put it together and viola! Thanks for your comprehensive video!

Lot of help. My tips would be to tie the brushes back with zip ties around brush wire. One around skeg one around shaft. After armature is installed put something hollow over shaft, pvc pipe a couple of feet long, this allows you to hold pressure against armature when you slide the cover over it otherwise magnets will pull armature out.

Matt, I'm doing my Edge 70 for the second time. Did it in 2017 and somehow I bent another shaft. When I purchased the new one my original has been upgraded. The upgrade addresses a heat issue. This new one is supposed to cure that. It was about 160.00 dollars for the kit. It come with a new armature, brush plate, brushes and all the seals and orings. Not sure if your armature is the same one.

@ProWrenching3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching over there in Sri Lanka! I don’t know of any motor you could use in place of a trolling motor under the water. Trolling motors are sealed so they can be used under water. A radiator fan motor, etc, wouldn’t be sealed and the water would ruin it. If you were going to use a different motor that wasn’t waterproof, you would have to keep that up out of the water and have an extended shaft running to the propeller in the water. I bet you could use a radiator motor if it was out of the water with an extension shaft to the blade. I’ve never tried it!

I have a Minn Kota trolling motor Endura C2 30lb thrust. Does anybody know what that molded / epoxied section in the front motor case is? It has there wires into it, two-yellow and one white. Sure it's part of the speed controller. Maybe the Power MOSFET drivers. Placing in the motor case in the water to keep them cooler (Of course just guessing). I'll take back what I mentioned about that incased/potted section in front of the motor compartment. I saw the part description of that part, SPCOIL Speed Coils - FW potted. I ohmed those three wires "YEL/WHT/YEL" all three of them ohm out to zero ohms. So maybe those are coils / inductors / surge protectors ????
