it looks like you may have watched a few more videos than i did. i just wrapped a couple of really funny shaped strut tower brace crossmembers inside my engine compartment. and while it looks good, i know the guys at the BMW shop will laugh at me next time i bring it in to have something done. haha.

😁 I watched tons of videos on vinyl wrapping. I’m sure I didn’t do things correctly, but I’m happy with the results.
@kimnewling5728 Жыл бұрын
Yes, you did pretty good. Years ago, I use to mount flexible printing plates on big cylinders using "sticky back." I'd start on one end and get the sticky back mounted straight, and then remove the vinyl backing as I went along. Work the sticky back with your fingers, then pull the backing off. Keeps the bubbles and creases out easier. If you did it a lot, you'd get good at it. Your probably thinking to yourself "why am I doing this, it's a pain!" I'd put a coating over it to keep edges from peeling up. Good video, good job. Hi wife.

Nice job for your first try! For the holes you cut in the middle, make incisions in middle first in order to release the tension. Then you can cut out the edges easily
@MirandaDetailing5 ай бұрын
Thanks! Great tips. I’ll have to do that next time I wrap anything.
@fibnastyАй бұрын
@@yashdhawade5341i was gonna say. make tiny middle slits, almost and ex, wrap it under the edges (in those holes) as you did the outer edges. and then cut on the inside, the excess. but for beginner it’s really good

That looked really nice! Relief cuts definitely will help👍

That film was too ridged but you still manage to manipulate it,I can't wait to see you work with PPF that's more flex and stretchy.
@MirandaDetailing Жыл бұрын
Hi. That’s the way vinyl wraps are. Once heated them become very stretchy and malleable, that way when stretching around edges and corners they cool to their original stiffness and really stay in place. At least that’s what I have learned recently. From what I have learned ppf seems less forgiving when being stretched. But there are so many different types of vinyl and ppf. Each has a learning curve. But overall this vinyl is cool stuff!!

Yes I got some for the atv fenders.
@MadOldBiker5 ай бұрын
Wondering if you could lacquer over that to make it more permanent ?
@MirandaDetailing5 ай бұрын
Not sure. With atv plastics they flex and bend a lot and lacquer or clear coat could crack and chip over time. So gas this wrap has held yup really well. Plus if it starts to peel or gets damaged I can just peel it off and redo it.

Could you use a blow dryer since they produce heat or does it have to be a heat gun?

@MirandaDetailing9 ай бұрын
Hi. Do you mean does it make the plastics stronger? If so, no it doesnt. its just for looks. but it does protect the platics form minor scratches which is good.
@crazywelderthings6952 Жыл бұрын
Would using soap or windex work well? Like window tint?
@MirandaDetailing Жыл бұрын
Hi. I’ve tried that before but vinyl needs a dry install to be able to stretch and cling properly.
@offdabeatz3 ай бұрын
No. Adhesive and moisture do not like each other. Tint you can see the moisture trapped and can remove it. Plastic panels like these you need to know what they are made out of so you can prep them properly for vinyl or buy specific vinyl for them.
@MirandaDetailing3 ай бұрын
PPF (Paint Protection Film) also is a wet application. I have found that plastics like this definitely red to be cleaned really well for proper adhesion. So far these vinyl is doing great on the atv!

@mattsilva6592 Жыл бұрын
Cut the directly in the middle of the little slots and then heat and wrap the edges of the slots.
@braysfly Жыл бұрын
never heat it while it’s still on the backing paper man. that activates the adhesive and sticks, potentially won’t hold as long as it would if you didn’t heat.
@MirandaDetailing Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Good tip! 😎👍🏼
@mudza926 ай бұрын
Exactly! And you don't need to use just a little bit of heat to shrink. You have to heat up the whole thing, that's the only way to fully activate adhesive if you want it to last for long time.
@rtkl132 ай бұрын
@mudza92 so how come they sell adhesive spray with it ?
@MirandaDetailing2 ай бұрын
For some surfaces you may need an adhesion promoter to help it stick on difficult surfaces or corners and edges.
