Yeah Call of the Haunted never changed. The way Falcon abuses Call of the Haunted is by using the revived things as material or tributing them to leave the Call dead on the field. That's the reason for the Dragunity Darkspear. You can keep reviving it with Call, tribute it to revive the Falcon, and then bounce the now detached Call to reuse.

So, I've played Falcon Control for years (it is my favorite card in the game) and the interaction with CotH never worked liked that. It's not a matter of not working in the modern game. The best I can think of is that Joseph thinks that Falco'ing a CotH would have the same effect of Falco'ing a Premature Burial.

Exactly, falcon punch was meant to recycle sangan searches (revive sangan with the trap, return the trap, sangan dies, search), or recycling the monsters you revive with the continuous traps (the trap remains in field and you can return it later, or cash it with magic planter)

So yeah... Bouncing Call of the Haunted has always destroyed the revived monster. Premature Burial leaves the monster alive if bounced, which is essentially why it's banned. My favorite card to bounce with Falcon is Big Bang Shot. Banish their only monster and replay for a direct attack, or simply banish one monster and destroy another by battle.

The first Rank 1 XYX is Baby Tiragon who arrived as a rare in Photon Shockwave (July/November of 2011). Having it would not have helped much. 3 Level 1s to make with an effect that says a Level 1 monster may attack directly.

I fucking LOVED playing piper chaos back in the day. It was never ever good, but I snuck in a regional top 32 here and there. One really funny fact is that it was like, 80-20 vs mythic rulers in 2013-2014. They would just make boards that hard lost to enemy controller and creature swap and never be able to kill on the crackback.

Farfas hand that second turn looking like my ghoti hands before I basically took them all out, since you can't make them disappear like any everyother deck, no matter what you do they come back, so you only need 1 of each. On a side note, call of the haunted is a pretty obvious one as to why it doesn't work. COTH specifically says "if this card leaves the field, destroy that monster" Falcon COTH never worked. Falcon Premature Burial is a different story, and does work.

As far as I can tell, it never worked like that. MBT is probably confusing it with Premature Burial, which does, but if you look it up you'll find Pojo and reddit threads from around the time of Tengu claiming that if you bounce a COTH that summoned a Falcon, the Falcon is destroyed. This is actually why you'd play Darkspear, apparently. You could use Call or Limit Reverse to summon Darkspear, Darkspear to summon the Falcon, and then recycle the continuous trap without losing anything.

It specifically has to do with the 2nd line of text on COTH which is a continuous effect that when it leaves the field you destroy the moaster it revived, as opposed to Premat which only has the if it's destroyed destroy the equipped monster line of text

Random question here, I was opening some legacy packs in master duel and came across a card called Emperor Tanuki's Critter Count, and part of its effect reads "while this card is in the monster zone, when you ritual summon, you can also send 1 monster from your extra deck to the gy as 1 of the monsters used for the ritual summon". How would this effect work with XYZ and/or Link monsters? Would the XYZ monster count it's rank as levels for the ritual summon? Would the link rating of a monster count as a level instead? Would either one be counted as level 1 or would it restrict you to only sending extra deck monsters with levels to the GY? Hoping someone can relieve my curiosity as I would try it myself but don't have the resources to build a ritual deck at the moment

Has there ever been a rformat where returning Call of Haunted to the hand doesn't destroy the monster?? I was playing joey the passion on a vm the other day and even in that old af game, bouncing it ALWAYS destroys the monster. Even the first printing of the card says "if its removed form field" (synonym to "leaves the field" in psct), so in order for it to NOT destroy the monster, konami themselves would've need to make a special ruling to make it so way back then.

If you're wondering why Sangan didn't go off in that second game, it's because Sangan only work when the card itself leaves the field. Technically, as Xyz Material, it was no longer on the field, and thus couldn't trigger. Rulings are weird.
