Hello Daren, I just jumped more into the Inverse Kinematics and I am same confused with some of the stuff as you in the video. :) But I think in General it supplies natural movements of whole body so I am going to dig into that more and hopefully it will work my way in future. Thanks for the tutorial.

I know other people have managed to work it successfully, but I can't seem lock down some of the joints, so too much of the character moves. I'll come back to it at some point and investigate further.

@@DarrenTAnims I have the puppet done and I am now playing with the movements. I am trying to figure out the best way how to move the puppet.

Excellent. Good luck to you. One piece of advice I'll give you, that someone gave me, that changed the way I have built my rigs. For a lot of situations, don't try to make a fully-posable puppet. Just make the rig do what you need it to do. When your viewers see the animation, they won't care how you set up the rig. Just that the animation works. On that note, I've just finished experimenting with another technique, using just the plastic tool, that's works pretty well. I'll make a vid about that in a few weeks.

@@DarrenTAnims Very good advice. Very true. In the end it is important what people see, not what is behind it and nonody apprecieates how hard it was. Thanks for that advice, will keep it noted.

It's just to easy to try to make a rig do everything, before you think about what it actually needs to do. I've fallen into that trap often. Sometimes you only need to move the arms for a shot, so just draw those separately. As he said, slightly misquoting The Lord Of The Rings: "Don't build one rig to rule them all"

So, i am trying to draw a character piece by piece in vector to animate, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make a mirror copy of the left arm to put on the right arm layer to maintain symmetry. There is no copy option and when I copy/insert from Level strip, it changes the original arm as well. Please help lol.

This is a common question. Copying the drawing on the timeline just creates a copied exposure of the same drawing. A copy of that reference. What you need is a duplicate. You can right click on a space to the right of a drawing and choose Duplicate or press the D key. This video shows how it works: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYWWl5aVft6oiNU To mirror your drawing, select it all with the selection tool, then in the Horizontal scale box on the options toolbar, change the 100% to - 100%.

@@DarrenTAnims HOW DO YOU GET THE CHARACTER FEET STUCK ON THE GROUNG IN ik so I can move the hip joint and the feet stick to the ground, any ideas?
@DarrenTAnims2 жыл бұрын
@@oscarfrancis That's something I'd like to investigate further. For now, I'm just adding a key to keep them there.
